Friends is the kind of sitcom people return to again and again. You do not need a reason. A rough day works, and so does a quiet evening with nothing planned, and it feels familiar in a way few shows manage, almost like background comfort that still makes you laugh. That is why it fits so well with winter nights, when you just want something easy on the mind and warm in tone.
With Christmas almost here, Friends feels like an obvious pick. So this feels like the right time to look back at a few Friends holiday specials that still work perfectly for a cozy Christmas watch.
Friends: Top 5 Christmas special episodes to watch this holiday season

The One with the Holiday Armadillo (Season 7/ Episode 10)
In this episode, we can see a sweet father-son bond between Ross and Ben, but the emotion is amplified with Chandler and Joey's participation. So what happens in this one is Ross thought it would be a good idea to educate Ben about Hanukkah and, in turn, his Jewish heritage.
But getting a child's attention isn't a cup of tea, you know? So he came up with an innovative idea to dress up as Santa while talking to Ben. But things don't go as planned, and he ends up dressing up as 'Holiday Armadillo.'
But as he was about to narrate the story of Hanukkah, Chandler walked in dressed as Santa, and eventually, Joey arrived dressed as Superman. All four of them lit the Menorah.
The One Where Rachel Quits (Season 3/ Episode 10)
This episode is one of the most crucial ones for Rachel's journey, but it showed some wholesome moments. Ross accidentally breaks a young girl's leg while she was trying to raise money to win a trip to Space Camp. Consumed by guilt, Ross tries to compensate by selling cookies on her behalf.
He goes overboard, but again, things don't go as planned. He falls short of money even after selling several cookie boxes. But again, Friends don't really have the word 'giving up' in their dictionary. So, the boys set up a space camp in their apartment for the girl.
The One with Phoebe's Dad (Season 2/ Episode 9)
This Christmas episode features two different narratives. One involves Phoebe, Chandler, and Joey, and the other one with Ross, Rachel, and Monica. In the first narrative, Phoebe discovers the whereabouts of her biological father. She takes Chandler and Joey on a road trip to meet her father. But when they reach, Phoebe realizes that she is not ready to confront him.
In the second narrative, Rachel and Ross host a Christmas party, but with a broken radiator. The apartment gets extremely heated, and they spend Christmas in a tropical climate.
The One With Christmas in Tulsa (Season 9/ Episode 10)
This second-to-last episode takes fans on a roller coaster of nostalgia. Chandler is away from home this Christmas. The group indeed misses him, but work is a priority at the moment.
The rest of the Friends characters celebrate together, but then, something unprecedented happens. Chandler was missing out on a lot and was vulnerable when a coworker crossed her line. She tries to make a move on him. Suddenly, reality hits him, and he realigns his priorities. He quits his job and shows up at his apartment to reunite with his friends.
The One With the Monkey (Season 1/ Episode 10)
This episode comes at the end of the list, but it is the very first Holiday episode on Friends. In this episode, Ross brings Marcel, the most adorable monkey in television history. The friends decide to celebrate the festivities with a no-date policy, but again, that's not very realistic, right?
Most of them end up having a date. The others are not bitter about it and instead are quite supportive. The episode deals with themes such as loneliness, evolving relationships, and unbreakable companionship.
The series has featured many Christmas episodes in 10 seasons that never get old. Beyond celebrations, each episode stands as a symbol for strong bonds, union, and friendships.
