From revenge to ruse: Marry My Husband's Park Min-young to lead Prime Video's Korean remake of hit Japanese con-comedy

Marry My Husband fame, Park Min-young, is expected to make her comeback with a new series for Amazon Prime Video. The upcoming Korean series is a remake of a popular Japanese comedy called The Confidence Man JP, and is expected to premiere in late 2025.

This marks the first Korean original series produced by Amazon Prime Video, as earlier K dramas used to be available in a separate category on the streaming platform. But Park Min-young’s series, The Confidence Man KR (working title), will be part of the main lineup of original series produced by Amazon Prime Video.

Park Min-young is set to star in the first Prime Video original K-drama

The Korean series focuses on a group of con artists who try to catch the corrupt people in different sectors of the workforce. To do that, these con artists, led by Pak Min-young’s Yun I-rang, will make schemes and strategies to expose the corruption of these people.

Through humor and a witty narrative, the series aims to highlight societal flaws and systemic failures. The series will have 12 episodes that will follow the three fraudsters, Park Min-young being the leader and a genius, who we will see making some exceptional strategies against the corrupt authoritative figures.

The production company HIGROUND, which produced the series for Prime Video, shared a statement about Park Min-young’s involvement in the highly anticipated series, stating:

"Having Park Min Young star in an Amazon original drama is not only a major achievement for the actress herself but also sets a new milestone in the history of K-content. It is a recognition of Park Min Young’s value as a global actress who transcends Korea to reach audiences worldwide."

They continued:

"We ask for your great interest and support for ‘The Confidence Man KR,’ the first Korean original content selected and produced by global OTT platform Amazon."

As per Soompi, the series began filming in 2024, which was successfully wrapped recently. The fans of Park Min-young will not have to wait long as the Prime Video original series will premiere sometime later this year. Furthermore, the series is directed by Nam Ki-hoon, who also directed popular series like Destined With You and both seasons of Big Bet.

Park Min-young is one of the celebrated Korean actresses known for her talent and diverse roles that she has portrayed in many of her popular K dramas. Her filmography includes major hits like Sungkyunkwan Scandal, High Kick!, and the globally acclaimed What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim.

Apart from that, Park Min-young’s last K-drama, Marry My Husband, which also premiered on Prime Video, broke many records, becoming one of the hit series across numerous countries. In Marry My Husband, Min-young played the character of Kang Ji-won, who returns to her past after being killed by her husband, who cheated on her with her best friend, and takes revenge on them.

From playing a vengeful wife to a mastermind con artist determined to bring down corrupt authorities, Park Min-young is ready to surprise and entertain her viewers with her new Korean series.
