The finale of Futurama Season 13, titled The White Hole, aired on September 15, 2025. The episode begins with Bender attempting a rooftop burglary before a glowing object appears in the sky, later revealed by Farnsworth to be a white hole.

Unlike a black hole, it expels matter, energy, and time, and demands eight representatives from Universe Six to witness the birth of a new universe. After Nixon’s Head approves the Planet Express crew, they are frozen in “carbonara” for a ten-million-year journey. Along the way, countless disposable clones handle crises until duplicates finally claim the glory meant for the originals.

The white hole first became visible in the sky during the early morning hours. It was so bright that it could be seen alongside the sun. The Planet Express crew gathered at headquarters to watch a live broadcast from Linda and Morbo, who reported that the glare was being witnessed across the universe.

Professor Farnsworth identified the glowing object as a white hole, the opposite of a black hole, which ejects matter, energy, and time rather than pulling them in. Red letters spelling “ATTENTION” soon appeared across the galaxy, signaling the entity’s attempt to communicate. Eventually, the white hole addressed the inhabitants of Universe Six directly.

It explained that it had been opened by forces in the outer realms so their universe could join others in witnessing the creation of a brand-new universe. The white hole declared that eight representatives would be required to serve as delegates for the mission.

Farnsworth quickly volunteered the Planet Express crew, insisting they were the most suitable choice. To make this happen, he appealed to Earth President Richard Nixon’s Head, offering a bribe that convinced the administration to consider the proposal, setting the stage for the central mission of the finale.

President Nixon’s Head officially approved a delegation but did not allow Farnsworth to lead. Nixon and Secretary of Space Bubblegum Tate explained that exposure to the chroniton waves near the white hole would drastically accelerate aging, making Farnsworth unfit. Instead, they initially chose the Sunnyside Middle School Model UN Team as the representatives.

The children launched from Kennedy Space Center, but within moments their ship returned to Earth. Although they had only been gone a short while in real time, the chroniton effects had aged them into the elderly. The mission was deemed a failure, leaving Farnsworth to laugh at their misfortune while Tate recalculated the risks.

In Futurama Season 13, Tate determined that the journey was possible, but only with the strongest rocket ever built and a crew placed in suspended animation for ten million years. Nixon approved the new plan, and the Planet Express crew was selected to go after all.

In a newsreel-style sequence, it was announced that Old Bessie, the Planet Express ship, had been mounted on a rocket to serve as the vehicle for the voyage. Scruffy was confirmed as part of the mission as well, joining the crew as they prepared for suspended animation.

In Futurama Season 13, the Planet Express crew was frozen in “carbonara,” but the ship was designed to use a bio-3D printer to create temporary copies for emergencies.

When a leak formed, Scruffy 1 was created and tasked with repairing it using a piece of gum. After completing his duty, he turned to dust. Fry 1 was then printed to switch off lights, followed by Bender 1 to release the booster rocket.

Each clone performed a single task before disintegrating. The process repeated for millions of years in ship time, creating countless Scruffys, Frys, Amys, Leelas, and others. Some were destroyed in accidents while others completed simple assignments like making sandwiches or cheering up fellow duplicates.

Eventually, the clones faced threats from translucent space salps, which were defeated after one version of Farnsworth electrified the hull. Later, yogurt left behind by a clone mutated into a living entity after exposure to chronitons, forcing several Zoidberg clones to consume it.

The printer generated wave after wave of replacements, each continuing the mission despite knowing they would not survive. Through these sacrifices, the ship was kept operational long enough to ensure the originals remained frozen safely on course toward the white hole.

After ten million years of ship time, the Planet Express ship crossed the white hole’s reverse event horizon. A final wave of duplicates was created to wake the originals and prepare them to witness the birth of a new universe. However, these clones rebelled against their intended purpose. They decided they deserved the glory after carrying out the mission for generations.

They boarded the shuttle bubble themselves and were welcomed into the portal by the white hole. Meanwhile, the original crew remained in suspended animation until the ship returned to Earth. Only fourteen minutes had passed in real time since their launch. The ship landed, and the frozen crew toppled out, thawed by Sal. When asked about their journey, the crew explained that they never even woke up.

In Futurama Season 13, Nixon’s Head dismissed their confusion and immediately handed them medals. The white hole vanished from the sky, closing the season with the Planet Express team celebrated as heroes for a mission they had no memory of undertaking, while the countless disposable duplicates who actually carried out the journey were erased from history.
