Gen V Season 2 finally premiered its season finale, and while it does act as the bridge for The Boys Season 5, as revealed by Eric Kripke, the season finale also sets up a major narrative for the upcoming prequel Vought Rising. The prequel is set to explore the origins of Vought in the 1950s and will center on Soldier Boy and Stormfront in those years.

The majority of the final episode explores the group of supes who have formed the resistance against Homelander. The beginning of the season finale reveals more information about the newly revived Thomas Godolkin, whom Marie healed in the penultimate episode of Gen V Season 2.

Thomas Godolkin has been the very poorly hidden twist that was revealed in the penultimate episode of Gen V Season 2. While the penultimate episode revealed that Dean Cipher was actually a human being controlled by Godolkin himself, we didn't know much about Godolkin himself.

The flashbacks before the Gen V season 2 finale revealed that Thomas Godolkin had almost died, but a new flashback continues in the season finale, revealing that Godolkin had inserted "Compound V1" into himself. This reveal adds new information to the lore around Compound V itself, which gives the supes their powers.

Doung, who was being controlled by Godolkin, reveals that the reason why Godolkin didn't die in the fire is that Compound V1 gave him immortality along with his powers to control others. Doug also reveals that this is the same version of Compound V that was given to Soldier Boy and Stormfront. Jensen Ackles's Soldier Boy and Aya Cash's Stormfront are the central characters on Vought Rising.

The prequel is set to anchor around the duo and is described as:

"It’s a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy, and the diabolical maneuvers of a Supe known to fans as Stormfront, who was then going by the name Clara Vought"

Soldier Boy was the first non-aging American Supe as seen on The Boys, and Stormfront was the first test subject for the compound.

While Stormfront is long gone in the present day, Soldier Boy is still alive and being kept in a cryofreezer, where Homelander finds him in the end-credit scenes of The Boys Season 4. The Gen V Season 2 reveal about Compound V1 also explains how Soldier Boy has managed to stay alive despite everything that happened to him.

Vought Rising is currently being filmed, and along with Ackles and Cash, it is also set to include Elizabeth Posey as Private Angel, Will Hochman as Torpedo, Jason Myrie, Nicolò Pasetti, Ricky Staffieri, and Kiki Layne as series regulars. Mason Dye is also set to join the cast of Vought Rising, and he was previously cast on The Boys as Bombsight.

Vought Rising is sure to explore the effects and variations of the Compound even more and reveal much more about the company that has built it all.
