When it comes to The Pitt and Noah Wyle's success, George Clooney has the same opinion about his former ER co-star as millions of fans are obsessed with the medical drama. Recently, in a conversation with Seth Meyers on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Clooney expressed his praise and appreciation for the former co-star.
The Pitt premiered on HBO Max in January 2025 and has taken the medical drama genre by storm, owing to its unique narrative style, where each episode of the first season focused on one complete hour of the 15-hour shift in the Emergency Room Department. Here's what Clooney had to say about Noah Wyle and the medical drama.
George Clooney is all praise for his former ER co-star Noah Wyle's The Pitt

Recently, the Oscar-winning actor George Clooney appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers to promote his Broadway play Goodnight, and Good Luck. The performance will air on CNN and HBO Max on June 7 at 7/6c. Seth Meyers brought up Clooney's former co-star Noah Wyle, and his latest medical drama, The Pitt.
Clooney then addressed the audience and asked them if they'd watched The Pitt, adding how wonderful it is. He had a lot of praise for his former ER co-star Noah Wyle, expressing how wonderful and talented Wyle is. Clooney revealed that they'd been good friends since the pilot of ER was shot, and so he had the privilege of watching Wyle grow into an honourable young man with exceptional talent:
"Have you guys seen that show?[to the audience]. It’s so good, and I have to say, we’ve been really dear friends since, you know, since the show, since we did the pilot of the show. He is just the most honorable, talented young man, I get to say because I’m an old man, and I cannot be happier for his success on the show. The show is just a beautiful show and he does just a great job with it."
Clooney also emphasised how great he thought The Pitt was. He joked that he was jealous of how easy it used to be for Wyle to remember all the medical terminology back in their ER days, so it's no surprise that Wyle is doing an exceptional job as Dr. Michael 'Robby' Robinavitch on The Pitt:
"He always could do it, and I hated him for that."
Whereas Clooney, on the other hand, has moved on to take up other professions, a journalist in his Broadway play:
"We used to do these things called oners. You’ve got to get 12 pages of dialogue out and nobody can screw up, or you have to start all over again. I’m at the very end of the oner, at Page 12, and I have one line — supraventricular tachyarrhythmia — and I’m telling you, I never got it! Literally! We did, like, 40 takes, and the rest of the cast is, like, ‘Are you f–king kidding me?"
Nevertheless, Clooney and Wyle both have an incredible bond, all thanks to the NBC show (1994-2009) where they starred together until Season 5 when Clooney left the show, whereas Wyle stayed on until Season 11. Both of them returned for a couple of guest appearances on the drama.
