Every year, CBS' spooky sitcom treats fans to a delightfully chilling Halloween special and this tradition was duly followed in Ghosts Season 5. With almost all procedurals and sitcoms basking in the spirit of the spooky season, Ghosts kept its streak alive with “Halloween 5: The Mummy,” a chaotic, laugh-out-loud episode that blends ancient curses with the show’s signature charm. The Halloween episode opened in Egypt in 1890, where a Mummy is being packed and shipped to the Woodstone Mansion. As the box gears for its destination, an ominous curse is placed, which creates great havoc in the present Woodstone Mansion. When Sam and Jay accidentally open the old sarcophagus, they unleash Amenhotep, a centuries-old mummy with unfinished business and a flair for the dramatic. As chaos erupts through Woodstone Manor, Hetty and Sam scramble to undo the mess, leading to a series of hilarious curses, heartfelt apologies and a surprisingly touching promise to reunite the mummy with his lost love. Here is the complete Ghosts Season 5 Halloween 5: The Mummy recap.Ghosts Season 5 recap: The Mummy Awakens View this post on Instagram Instagram PostEvery Ghosts fan knows that the 1890s Egypt flashback, teased at the beginning of Ghosts Season 5 Episode 3, will naturally come to haunt the living and dead of the Woodstone Mansion and that is exactly what happened. After the chilling Mummy tease, we returned to the Mansion only to see Bela planning Woodstone's first-ever Halloween haunted house (Oh, the irony!).In another fun-filled moment, Jay suggested bringing up something spooky from the basement, which is when they came across the sarcophagus. Hetty immediately recognized the coffin as part of her family's heirloom, which they brought back from Egypt in the 1890s. The next thing we know, Jay and Sam were reading aloud from "The Book of the Dead," unleashing the Mummy Amenhotep from his resting place. What a great start to Ghosts Season 5 Halloween Special, a house filled with eccentric spirits just welcomed another and to make things even more hilarious, the Woodstone ghosts were terrified of the Mummy Amenhotep.Ghosts Season 5 recap: The Mummy's sob story View this post on Instagram Instagram PostWhile mummies are usually terrifying, Amenhotep's was more of a sob story in Ghosts Season 5. He reveals how a priest botched up his mummification rituals, binding his spirit to his body forever. To make matters worse, the Mummy was stolen from its Egyptian Tomb and sold to the Woodstones, who mistreated it. They not only paraded his body but also ate one of his toes. The Mummy in Ghosts Season 5 was not ordinary. He longed to be with his wife, who was separated from him. While they were buried together, the Woodtsones could not afford to buy both coffins together and thus only brought Amenhotep with them, leaving his wife in Egypt. This was enough for the Mummy to announce vengeance against the Woodstones. In a hilarious sequence, Hetty pretends to be someone named Marge but the Mummy smartly deciphered her act.Amenhotep quickly discovered that Sam and Hetty were Woodstone descendants, setting off a hilarious string of mummy curses. Before the Mummy could unleash another chilling curse, Hetty apologized to her and Sam promised to reunite him with his wife. Thanks to the power of the Internet, Sam managed to find Amenhotep's wife's remains in an Egyptian museum and he was sent back to his wife.By the end of “Halloween 5: The Mummy,” order is (mostly) restored at Woodstone Mansion and the episode once again proves why Ghosts’ annual Halloween specials are such a fan favorite. Between the clever writing, heartwarming twists and a perfect balance of scares and silliness, the show continues to make the spooky season its own.You can stream Ghosts Season 5 Halloween: The Mummy on Paramount+.For the latest scoops on your favorite TV shows and movies, follow SoapCentral.
