Netflix’s survival thriller Squid Game released its official Season 3 trailer a week ago, and viewers can't help but notice some interesting details that hint at Player 456's future. In Season 1, Seong Gi-Hun, also known as Player 456, portrayed by Lee Jung-jae, emerged as the winner of the Squid Games, winning 45.6 billion won. However, due to difficult circumstances, he found himself drawn back into the deadly games.

While the trailer holds back on obvious spoilers, a single scene might have given away one of the biggest twists: how far will Seong Gi-hun go in the final games? The trailer teases that the games have become deadlier and the players greedier, and here's what we know about Gi-hun's fate.

Squid Game Season 3: Gi-Hun's tuxedo scene may reveal his return to the finals

In Squid Game Season 1, viewers saw Gi-Hun and the last remaining players don black tuxedos as they entered the final stage of the game. Until that moment, all players had worn identical green tracksuits, but the formal attire marked their advancement to the final round. In the Season 3 trailer, Gi-Hun is shown again in a black suit, his player number marked with a white patch, prompting speculation that he might make it to the finals yet again.

At first glance, it appears to be a symbolic echo of the past. But fans have picked up on the detail as a potential clue for Gi-hun's fate. If the outfit signifies the same as it did before, this could mean that he survives until the final stage of the competition.

However, there's also a possibility that the tuxedo can be misleading. In the same trailer, Gi-hun is seen visiting the Front Man - the game's overseer. Some believe that the suit may indicate a new role; perhaps not as a player, but as someone the Front Man is trying to recruit to help manipulate the game. In the trailer, we see Front Man telling Gi-Hun,

"Player 456. Do you still have faith in people?"

Thus, there remains a possibility that Gi-Hun's character arc may shift completely from survivor to insider.

Additionally, the trailer reveals a red X marked on Gi-Hun's attire. This symbol may be tied back to the voting system introduced in the previous season, where players cast O to continue the game and X to leave it. If Gi-Hun has voted for X, it might signify resistance and a complex internal conflict ahead.

While Squid Game has always thrived on unpredictability, creator Hwang Dong-hyuk is expected to offer a conclusive yet shocking ending. Unlike Season 1, where only Gi-hun emerged alive, the final chapter could break the pattern. Whether Gi-Hun is back in the final game as a contestant or a reluctant insider, his journey looks set to reach a dramatic conclusion. Whatever direction the story takes, one thing is clear: Squid Game Season 3 is setting the stage for a gripping, emotional, and possibly nail-biting conclusion.
