Netflix's breakthrough teen drama series Ginny & Georgia is finally returning with season 3 on June 5, 2025.
The coming-of-age drama series follows a single mom, Georgia, who moved to Wellsbury with her two children, Ginny and Austin, after a tragic past involving embezzlement and domestic abuse.
Season 2 was a roller coaster ride for the mother-daughter duo, which saw Ginny and Austin move out of their mother's house after they learned that she is a murderer. While Ginny and Austin were living with her father, Zion, they moved back in after Georgia and Paul got married.
Season 2 also saw Austin make up with his bully Zach after he learned that Zach's father, Tom Fuller, is in a vegetative state in hospice care. This also led to one of the most shocking moments in Ginny & Georgia Season 2, where Georgia smothered Tom and practically mercy-killed him to put Cynthia and the Fullers out of their misery.
Here is the complete recap of Ginny & Georgia Season 2, before the Season 3 premiere.
Georgia's past with Gil catches up to her in Ginny & Georgia Season 2
While Ginny and Austin finally move back in with their mother, Georgia's life continues to take tragic turns. Austin's father, Gil, shows up in Wellsbury, and he blackmails Georgia to gain access to Paul's wealth.
With Gil's re-entry into Georgia's life, we finally learn about her past with him in Ginny & Georgia Season 2. It was revealed that Gil charmed his way into Georgia's life, and the two began a relationship. However, it soon turned into abuse, and Georgia had to hide away her marks from her children.
After Gil became a threat to Ginny and Austin, Georgia framed him for embezzlement and moved to Wellsbury, but he showed up in her life again.
However, Georgia's rival Cynthia sees Gil getting physical with her. Using her connections, she hinders Gil's attempts to secure housing in Wellsbury and Georgia returns the favour by putting Cynthia's husband out of his misery, ie, killing him.
Ginny struggles with mental health issues and her relationship with Marcus in Ginny & Georgia Season 2
While Ginny mends her relationship with Georgia and eventually with Max, her mental health continues to decline, and she even opens up about the self-harm she had been doing to Zion and goes to therapy.
However, after she moves back to Wellsbury, she continues her relationship with Marcus. But their relationship continues to decline because Marcus also struggles with depression in silence and solitude. Ginny is unable to understand his mental condition and misunderstands his distance.
After she overhears Marcus confess that he doesn't want to be in a relationship right now to Max, she again misunderstands that he doesn't love her, and the two break up.
Ginny & Georgia Season 2 ended on a shocking cliffhanger
While Ginny & Georgia Season 2 was a roller coaster, Georgia manages to make it to her wedding day with Paul in a beautiful Cinderella dress with Ginny and Austin by her side.
The couple gets married in a beautiful ceremony. However, while they are having their first dance as a married couple, the police arrive and arrest Georgia for the murder of Tom.
As the police take Georgia away, in front of all the guests and her family, Austin maintains that he did not call the police after his mother. The finale ends with Georgia being taken away in a police car as Ginny, Austin, and Paul watch in horror.
Teasing Ginny & Georgia Season 3, in an interview with Netflix's Tudum, creator Sarah Lampert said:
“Georgia needed to kill someone and she needed to kill someone in Wellsbury, Massachusetts...“We can’t wrap it up in a pretty bow. That’s not real life. That’s certainly not Georgia’s life. It never has been. Why would it start to be her life now?''
Ginny & Georgia Season 3 will pick up right after the events of the shocking finale and it remains to be seen how the mother-daughter duo handles new storms in their lives in the upcoming chapter.
Season 3 will also feature returning cast members Antonia Gentry, Brianne Howey, Diesel La Torraca, Scott Porter, and Felix Mallard, among others, reprise their respective characters.
