In the Season 3 finale of Ginny & Georgia, the latter is on trial for the mercy killing of Tom Fuller. Gabriel Cordova, a private investigator, testifies that Georgia may be a serial killer, drawing references from her dark past.

This leads to the Child Protective Services taking away her children while her husband, Paul, publicly announces a divorce to stay out of the matter, which further isolates her. Her defence attorney, Josh Finn, drops the case as Georgia doesn't remain in a position to fulfill his expensive fees.

Her only legal hope is Simone, Ginny's father's new partner, who somehow agrees to represent her. However, things are so bleak for her that even Simone believes she'll be convicted.

Austin, Georgia's young son, gives a testimony that comes as a turning point. Austin had witnessed Georgia smother Tom Fuller with a pillow in Season 2, so everyone expects him to tell the truth and seal her fate. Ginny, however, coaches him carefully before the testimony.

Despite pressure, Austin lies on the stand and says he didn't see anything. Georgia walks free, but her public reputation is shattered, her marriage is over, and her children are traumatised.

On the other hand, Mayor Paul Randolph is witnessing a downfall. He was initially loved for his grassroots appeal and integrity, but the recent Georgia scandal washed away his image as well. Instead of standing by her, Paul distances himself, skips court hearings, and publicly announces a divorce. This alienates the townspeople, many of whom view him as a coward who abandoned his wife in crisis.

Proposition 38 would crush local businesses like The Blue Farm Café, run by Joe, Georgia’s friend. While some citizens are tempted by the convenience of franchises, Georgia uses her wit and strategic mind to sway public sentiment toward local businesses, not for Paul’s sake, but to protect Joe.

By the end of Ginny & Georgia Season 3, Marcus's struggle with alcoholism finally comes to light and is addressed seriously. Marcus has been secretly drinking to cope with his depression since the previous season.

He used to show up in school drunk and hide empty bottles in the garage, which Georgia noticed. He eventually fails the year, followed by bad grades for some time. This comes as a turning point for his character, which prompts Ellen and Clint to act. They admit Marcus to a rehab, to seek help.

By the end, Georgia's story faces scars from the past, while her biological father, Shane Reilly, who once tried to kill her and her mother, starts calling her from prison. She initially ignores, but then picks up.

The final scene unveils her abusive mother and stepfather looking for her, which sets up the conflict for Season 4. Georgia will be left with nothing but to confront her past, while protecting Austin and Ginny from the same.
