Netflix has been expanding its Japanese drama collection, and Glass Heart is the newest addition. Based on Mio Wakagi’s popular novel, the series is a musical romance, and the official synopsis of the show, according to What’s on Netflix, states,

“Glass Heart tells the story of Akane Saijo, a college student and aspiring drummer, who finds herself suddenly kicked out of her band. However, things take a turn when the brilliant musician Naoki Fujitani stumbles upon her talent and invites her to join his new ensemble.”

One of the strongest aspects of the series is its cast, which includes Satoh Takeru, Miyazaki Yuu, Suda Masaki, Machida Keita, Shison Jun, and others. Satoh Takeru will play the role of Fujitani Naoki. The actor previously appeared in The Beginning and The Final, where he portrayed Himura Kenshin. Takeru also starred in First Love: Hatsukoi, a romantic J-drama.

Miyazaki Yuu plays the role of Saijo Akane. Her previous projects include Kimi ga, Women’s Gourmet Burger Club, and Onigiri Sukidakara, among others. Suda Masaki, who recently starred in Parasyte: The Grey, is cast as Shinzaki Toya. Machida Keita plays the role of Takaoka Sho, and the actor was previously seen in Netflix's Yu Yu Hakusho live-action adaptation. His other well-known project is Alice in Borderland.

Kakimoto Kensaku and Goto Kotaro serve as the directors of the upcoming series. The screenplay is written by Tomoko Akutsu and Okada Mari. The series will feature several live music scenes, and the soundtrack includes 'Crystalline Echo,' sung by Takeru Satoh.
