From 1993 to 2009, the popular American talk show Late Night with Conan O'Brien aired on NBC, and Conan O'Brien presented the show, which mainly featured musical performances, celebrity interviews, and comedy skits.

It ran for 16 seasons. The popular show replaced Late Night with David Letterman, and after such a successful run, O'Brien moved on to The Tonight Show in 2009, and despite initial criticism, the show developed a loyal following. This was due to O'Brien's unusual brand of humor, and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon eventually took its place in 2009.

Recently, Conan O'Brien discussed how late-night television is developing. He also admitted that, while historic formats may fade, core ingenuity will always be present.

Nonetheless, he is sure that television's core and its ability to tell compelling stories and deliver exceptional performances will endure, and speaking of Stephen Colbert, O'Brien stressed that Colbert's genius is essential to the future of late-night television.

Stephen Colbert is a television personality, writer, and comedian. As a correspondent on The Daily Show, he became well-known. He began The Colbert Report, a satirical program that ridiculed conservative political figures, in 2005. Colbert replaced David Letterman as host of The Late Show in 2015 after the show ended in 2014. O'Brien further said,

"Stephen is going to evolve and shine brighter than ever in a new format that he completely controls.”

This way, he expressed confidence in Colbert's ability, and this was primarily done to remain relevant in a rapidly changing television landscape, and Colbert's approach combines political comedy and smart criticism. This has particularly secured him a permanent spot on late-night television.

O'Brien also commended Colbert. This was done for his ability to interact with viewers by addressing both serious and humorous subjects, and overall, Conan O'Brien's views on the condition of late-night television demonstrate his conviction in the lasting power of talent and narrative.
