The Gilded Age is one show that has consistently performed well for HBO. Every season of the historical drama has been loved by fans, and it has already been renewed for a fourth season.

At the end of the previous installment, we saw George Russell deciding to part ways with Bertha. The couple’s separation was, of course, not loved by fans. Audiences were left wondering whether the two would get back together in the next season.

This does seem a possibility, going by recent comments made by Audra McDonald, who plays Dorothy Scott in The Gilded Age. The actress had an interview with US Weekly along with Taissa Farmiga, who plays Gladys Vere. During the conversation, Audra said that George, also known as ‘Railroad Daddy,’ would find his way back to Bertha in Season 4:

“Well, I want to know what’s going to happen with ‘Railroad Daddy’, if he’s going to come back to our dear Bertha. I can’t imagine life without the two of them together; they belong together, so their road back to each other is going to be interesting to watch.”

The Gilded Age cast talks about Season 4

Audra McDonald is excited to watch George and Bertha’s reunion in The Gilded Age Season 4. On the other hand, Taissa Farmiga is eager to see what happens between Oscar van Rhijn and Mrs. Winterton. At the end of Season 3, Oscar proposed marriage to Mrs. Winterton after the death of their respective partners. Revealing how this plot would pan out in Season 4, Taissa said:

“I feel like Oscar van Rhijn is someone who, I mean, Blake, I just adore as a human and an actor, and him and Mrs. Winterton together, I feel like they get up to so much drama, but like juicy drama. I’m excited to see what chaos they would cause for our society in the 1880s.”

HBO announced The Gilded Age Season 4 in July 2025 while Season 3 was still on air. Set in 1880s New York City, the series revolves around the new money Russell family and the old money van Rhijn-Brook family. Both critics and audiences have appreciated the show and have particularly loved the cast’s performances and the changing dynamics between the characters.

Alongside Audra McDonald and Taissa Farmiga, the show stars Carrie Coon as Bertha Russell, Morgan Spector as George Russell, Harry Richardson as Larry Russell, Denée Benton as Peggy Scott, Louisa Jacobson as Marian Brook, Blake Ritson as Oscar van Rhijn, Jack Gilpin as Mr. Church, Simon Jones as Mr. Alfred Bannister, Christine Baranski as Agnes van Rhijn, Ben Ahlers as John "Jack" Trotter, and Celia Keenan-Bolger as Mrs. Bruce.

HBO has not yet announced the release date of The Gilded Age Season 4. The previous three seasons can be streamed on HBO Max.
