With a sea of choices that Netflix offers, this platform is usually the first choice for any viewer when choosing to watch any content. However, slowly, the streaming giant is losing its spark, and it shows. This can not just be noted with the quality of the projects that the streaming platform is pushing for its viewers, but also because of the extensive negative reviews that it is getting.

In a recent Reddit post, viewers voiced their opinions on how the quality of the content that Netflix is showing on top of the platform’s charts is deteriorating. Using words like “horrible” and “gone to the dogs”, these viewers gave their opinions about the platform, and their opinions are definitely worth pondering.

Netflix maybe dying a slow death

There has been an influx of the number of true crime shows and murder mysteries on Netflix. While it is undeniable that this genre of entertainment comes with a distinct layer of intrigue, too much of the same type of content is bound to create a monotonous tone. If we compare the streaming platform with others, it can be noted that shows on the other streaming platforms come with storylines that are actually quite unique and fresh.

This freshness is often lacking in the storylines that we usually see at the top of the charts on this platform. It cannot be denied that choices vary from person to person and entertainment is subjective; however, the ratings are definitely an indication of whether a project is worth watching or not. The Woman in Cabin 10, a movie, is recently charting at the top of the list on Netflix.

The presence of any content at the top of the list definitely creates intrigue. However, many viewers raised their disappointment with the type of content that Netflix is pushing towards the viewers, especially pointing out this movie. Marketing is definitely a reason that draws the viewers regardless of the actual quality. Hence, this disappointment towards Netflix is increasing. This is because the streaming platform is more often than not pushing content that lacks depth and quality.

Some of the original content that Netflix is pushing out each year is definitely worth watching. There is depth, stunning performance, and a storyline worth appreciating. However, a large number of these original contents are not up to the mark. This can be especially seen with the true crime documentaries that Netflix is releasing one by one.

Yes, the cast definitely gives a stellar performance in these projects, but it cannot be denied that the extreme focus on the brutality and the gruesome nature of the crimes that these projects depict is definitely concerning. It shifts the focus from the negative aspects to more of a glorification of the criminals. These contents also often reduce the victims to just numbers and statistics.

Besides the true crime shows on the streaming platform, the other original shows that are released also often contain a similar pattern. Though the numbers might not give the same picture, as the profits for this global streaming giant are at an all-time high, however, they should also focus on the opinions of the viewers and focus more on quality than quantity.

The sheer volume of content that is present in this platform can often lower the possibility of finding actual good content. Hence, focus should be on bringing out content that is actually worth watching and giving the content that is genuinely good a place in the charts.
