"Gonna go with kooky": When Wednesday stars engaged in a fun conversation about which “The Addams Family” role they would fit in

The second season of Wednesday will be out on Netflix in a few months. So, the fans will finally get another look at this new iteration of the Addams family on the screen. Previously, Barry Sonnenfeld adapted it for his 1991 horror comedy flick. Still, after many years, it has the same hold over the audience it had back then.

While the new adaptation showed Jenna Ortega in the role of Christina Ricci, Luis Guzman in place of Raúl Juliá, and Catherine Zeta-Jones instead of Anjelica Huston, it brings out the wicked charm of their family, thanks to Tim Burton's mysteriously creative vision. So, it has managed to win over the fans of the original to become one of the most loved shows on the streamer.

Back in 2022, when the first season was released on the platform, the young stars from the show joined a fun Buzzfeed quiz interaction where they tried to figure out which “The Addams Family” role they would fit in. When asked about the word from the theme song that describes them the best, Emma Myers (who plays Enid Sinclair in the series) said,

"I'm gonna go with Kooky."

While Jenna Ortega picked "Creepy", Hunter Doohan (Tyler Galpin in the series) picked "All together ooky" from the options.

What is the Wednesday cast's favorite "spooky and fun" watch?

The cast of Wednesday was asked to pick between six entertaining horror classics to watch on a movie night. Jenna Ortega and Emma Myers picked Beetlejuice, the 1988 film starring Winona Ryder and Michael Keaton. The recently released sequel starred Ortega alongside them in a central role. Joy Sunday (Bianca Barclay in the series) picked Andrés Muschietti's It.

When asked to pick their ideal Halloween costume, Ortega chose "A homicidal maniac (AKA no costume)." Doohan and Sunday chose a "funny pop-culture reference" even though Doohan wasn't sure what reference he would choose to dress up as. Percy Hynes White (Xavier Thorpe in the series) shared an anecdote about his past Halloween when he was hit by a car while dressed up in his costume.

Later, they were asked to pick an Addams family character to trust with their secret. They had to choose from:

• Cousin Itt
• Lurch
• Grandmama
• Thing

Ortega said,

"I chose Cousin Itt because he's a pimp!"

Others chose either Lurch or Thing since they seemed like the safest choices to hold on to a secret, unlike Grandmama, who they thought would spill the beans easily because she could.

Right after, they were asked to choose a quote from "The Addams Family" movie. The choices were:

• "I would die for her. I would kill for her. Either way, what a bliss."
• "No excuse! Aim for a major artery. The jugular."
• "Thing, you're a handful."
• "You severely underestimate my apathy."
• "Salt, pepper, or cyanide?"
• "I'm just like any modern woman trying to have it all. Loving husband, a family. It's just I wish I had more time to seek out the dark forces and join the hellish crusade."

They all encapsulate Wednesday and her family's wry and dark humor to the fullest in one way or the other. Myers and Sunday chose "Salt, pepper, or cyanide?" while Hynes White chose the last option. Based on these answers, Ortega and Doohan received Wednesday as their Addams family character, while the other three received Morticia.

The second season of Wednesday will arrive on Netflix in August 2025.
