Grey’s Anatomy Season 22 and 9-1-1among other ABC shows to premiere sooner than expected

Grey’s Anatomy and 9-1-1, the ABC dramas, have seen quite some twists and turns during their 2024-2025 seasons. Grey's Anatomy, the longest-running medical drama on television, which began in 2005, completed its twenty-first season on 15th May 2025. On the same day, 9-1-1, the police procedural drama which began in 2018, completed its eighth season.

Both dramas explored heavy themes in their latest seasons, and fans have been eagerly waiting to see what the future holds. If you have been waiting as well, there's good news as Deadline reported that the new seasons of Grey's Anatomy, 9-1-1, along with the first season of 9-1-1: Nashville, the new 9-1-1 spin-off, are going to be released a week before their earlier scheduled date of 16th October 2025.


Grey’s Anatomy and 9-1-1 to be released early

Initially, the released date for Grey’s Anatomy, 9-1-1, and 9-1-1: Nashville for the 2025-2026 schedule was set to be 16th October 2025, but as Deadline reported, ABC has changed the date to 9th October 2025. The three dramas are going to be released on Thursday, 9th October, with 9-1-1 airing season 9 at 8 pm, its new spinoff 9-1-1: Nashville premiering at 9 pm, and Grey’s Anatomy airing season 22 at 10 pm.

Grey’s Anatomy is an ABC medical drama that follows attendants, residents, and interns at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital as they treat patients, deal with critical cases, and their personal lives all at the same time. It stars Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson, James Picken Jr., Kevin McKidd, Caterina Scorsone, Camilla Luddington, Harry Shum Jr., Alexis Foyd, Adelaide Kane, Midori Francis, and Niko Terho, among others in key roles.

Grey’s Anatomy season 21 finale saw the return of Meredith Grey to Grey Sloan and her decision to return to surgery part-time, Teddy contemplates choosing herself over Owen, and an explosion in an operating room, which ended the season on a cliffhanger.

9-1-1 is a police procedural drama that follows the daily lives of first responders of Los Angeles, California, including the firefighters of the 118 station, police officers, and the 9-1-1 dispatch team. The show highlights fictional emergencies and how first responders deal with it while they balance their personal lives. The show stars Angela Bassett, Peter Krause, Oliver Stark, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ryan Guzman, Aisha Hinds, Kenneth Choi, and Gavin McHugh in key roles, among others.

9-1-1 season 8 finale saw Eddie returning to L.A. with Christopher, the team still dealing with the late Captain Bobby Nash's death, Maddie giving birth to her and Chimney's baby boy, Buck deciding to stay back at the 118, and Athena deciding to sell the house where she lived with Bobby.

9-1-1: Nashville is an upcoming spin-off of 9-1-1, which will follow the first responders of Nashville, including the firefighters, paramedics, 9-1-1 dispatch team, and police officers. The show's cast includes Chris O'Donnell, Jessica Capshaw, Hailey Kilgore, Michael Provost, Juani Feliz, Hunter McVey, LeAnn Rimes, and Kimberly Williams-Paisley in key roles.

New seasons of Grey's Anatomy and 9-1-1, and the first season of 9-1-1: Nashville will come out on 9th October 2025 on ABC and will then be available to stream on Disney+.
