Hank Hill, the propane salesman of Fox's comedy series King of the Hill, is finally coming back in his reboot series. The animated series, which ran from 1997 to 2009, was announced for a revival, and the first-look images suggest it will likely grace our screens soon.

Revived by Hulu, the animated series was created by Mike Judge and Greg Daniels and it followed the life of Hank Hill and his daily misadventures with his family and three friends, Dale Bill and Boomhauer.

As Mike Judge confirmed, not only is the show returning after 17 years, but King of the Hill will also feature a time jump.

A time jump is the perfect plot device to reintroduce Hank Hill and his world to old and new viewers alike, as a lot has changed since we last saw them.

The first look images suggest that not only are the characters more mature and seemingly older, but the world around them has changed. It would be interesting to see how they, especially Hank Hill, will adapt to these changes.

The images feature the iconic alleyway of the original series, with the four friends drinking beer in front of it. While the characters and their surroundings are the same, modern elements have found a way into their lives.

More on the King of the Hill reboot in our story.

First look at the King of the Hill reboot suggests major changes in Hank Hill's world

While Hank Hill is back with his eccentric group of friends, his world has changed drastically since we last saw him on Fox in 2009.

Since Hank Hill was a conservative man, the first look images of King of the Hill show him with a baffled expression with his three friends, trying to adapt to the changes of a modern world. While the iconic alleyway is the same, modern things have found their way into his life.

In the first images, Dale is lost in virtual reality, Bill is using the food delivery apps to get food and beer for the group, and Boomhauer is busy on his iPad. Caught in the middle of his modernised friends is Hank Hill, standing with a beer in his hand.

Out of the four main characters, only Hank has no apparent connection to the modern world, suggesting our protagonist will take some time adjusting to his new surroundings. Since his friends look quite comfortable, maybe they will help him embrace the change.

Everything to know about the King of the Hill reboot

The hit Fox comedy is finally returning to our screens on Hulu with a modern twist. The release date is still not confirmed, but it was announced that the reboot will arrive on Hulu in Summer 2025.

It was also reported that most of the surviving cast members will reprise their characters in the reboot. This includes Mike Judge as Hank Hill / Boomhauer, Kathy Najimy as Peggy, Pamela Adlon as Bobby, and Stephen Root as Bill.

Since Johnny Hardwick, who voiced Dale's character, passed away, a new actor will likely voice his character in the reboot.

Similarly, Brittany Murphy and Tom Petty, who voiced for Luanne and Lucky, respectively, also passed away. It remains to be seen whether their characters will be written off from the reboot or new voice actors will be brought in.
