The reality show was first broadcast in 2001 and typically follows a National Football League (NFL) team through its training and preparation for the upcoming football season.

Narrator Live Schreiber states that in the first episode of Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Buffalo Bills that the Bills are one of the five teams in the NFL to use a college for training. The team trains at Rochester NY’s, St. John Fisher University. Quarterback Josh Allens also notes in the show that, “camp’s one of my favorite times of the year…this is where you build the camaraderie of your team and get to know each other.”

Further in the episode, the show talks about how the entire staff of the Bills know that Josh Allen is important for the team and having him at the helm is important. Head coach Sean McDermott mentions that, “here comes in a young man who has the weight of an organization on his shoulders.” Even general manger Brandon Beane notes that, “he deserves so much credit for where we’re at.”

In Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Buffalo Bills, the episode focuses on how the team has added former Chargers wide receiver Josh Palmer to their arsenal and have given him a three-year contract. Even Josh Allen makes it a point to get in-synch with the new addition. Allen notes that, “the best thing you can do between a quarterback and receiver is have that open line of communication.”

The episode also has a heartfelt moment as the show focuses on left tackle Dion Dawkins’ off-day of camp. The show showcases how the player became a dad and brought his two daughters and a son to drifting with him.

In another exclusive update from the first episode of Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Buffalo Bills, the show focused on how the new Bills stadium is being built in Orchard Park and team owner Terry Pegula notes that there is a lot of science behind it all. He states, “all the science has been done, like we’re protected more on the southwest side, which is the prevailing wind direction…and then we have the perforations set up. So we scienced it out.”

Even Josh Allen makes a trip to the new stadium and asks about the wind conditions and a worker mentions that “very little” as the stadium insulates the weather. The stadium will also have amenities like cold tub, hot tub, hydrotherapy, sauna, and a steam room.
