Harry Potter, the HBO series, which is set to be released in 2027, is currently in production. The show's cast and crew include some very notable artists, like John Lithgow playing Albus Dumbledore, and Francesca Gardiner (known for being a co-executive producer on Killing Eve) joining as showrunner and writer.
Now, as Harry Potter News (@HPMoviesNews) reported on X, Rosy Barker, who was an assistant script supervisor for F1 and The Crown, has joined the Harry Potter series as an assistant script supervisor.
F1 and The Crown assistant script supervisor joins Harry Potter
The book series was written by J.K. Rowling, and it was then adapted into the eight movies we all know and love today. The Harry Potter show, however, is written by Francesca Gardiner, and Rosy Barker is the assistant script supervisor. The show is set to follow the story of the books and movies, telling us the story of Harry as he realizes he is a wizard, enrolls at Hogwarts, and tackles all the obstacles thrown his way by Voldemort.
Interestingly, Rosy Barker has worked as an assistant script supervisor on F1, The Crown, and Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning. Barker specifically worked on three episodes of The Crown season six.
Barker has worked on some extremely successful projects. The Crown was and still continues to be one of the most popular dramas on Netflix, spanning six seasons, giving us a look into a major part of Queen Elizabeth II's reign from 1947 to 2005. The show portrayed the key political, familial, and international events that took place during this time.
The show's characters were a representation of real individuals of the British Royal family, the British government, and the media. We were shown major events like Queen Elizabeth II's wedding, coronation, the Queen's silver Jubilee, Margaret Thatcher's term, Princess Diana and King Charles' relationship, and the beginning of the relationship between Prince William and Princess Katherine Middleton.
The show has won many awards, including a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series and two Golden Globe Awards for Best Television Series-Drama. It stars Olivia Colman, Tobias Menzies, Helena Bonham Carter, Emma Corrin, and several others in key roles.
Barker has also recently worked on F1, which was released in theaters on 27th June 2025. Starring Brad Pitt, Damson Idris, and Javier Bardem in key roles, the film follows Sonny Hayes, a former F1 driver, who was at the peak of his career when it all went down. The film shows us how a new opportunity to revive his life and career arrives at an unexpected time, and how his comeback turned out.
It will be interesting to see what Rosy Barker will bring to Harry Potter and how her contributions will shape the show. Starring Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, the show is currently in production. Mark Mylod is the director and executive producer, along with Francesca Gardiner, J. K. Rowling, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts, and David Heyman.
The Harry Potter series will be released on HBO Max in 2027.
