Elite boarding schools are having their moment in pop culture, and the famous BBC Three drama Boarders is another example. From Prime Video’s global success with Maxton Hall to this popular British comedy-drama, the audience is genuinely interested in the underprivileged kid who ends up at an elite boarding school trope, forcing the rich to find themselves on the same level as those who are not, breaking down their ingrained concept of hierarchy.
Nevertheless, in great news for fans of this show, Boarders has been given the green light for a third season, which will unfortunately be the final season as well. Here’s everything we know.
BBC Three Drama Boarders has been picked up for a third season

When Boarders Season 2 premiered, creator Daniel Lawrence Taylor revealed in a conversation on Morning Live on BBC with Gaby Roslin and Rav Wilding that he was already prepared for a third season and had set up a writers’ room, in hopes that the second season would perform well and they would be picked up for another season.
"I'm already writing it and I've got a team full of writers already scribbling away. So fingers crossed, we just really need people to watch it and support it, then hopefully it will be a thing."
It appears this was a great decision, as the show—recipient of well-deserved critical acclaim—has been picked up for its third and final season. The final season will see the scholarship kids Leah, Toby, Femi, Omar, and Jaheim back at St. Gilbert’s boarding school, but this time, the pressure is tenfold as their exams are looming and they have a lot to prove as they look toward life after school. The latest logline reads:
"With new enemies, love interests and broken friendship, our teens are forced to face a fresh batch of problems which threaten to trip them up at their final hurdle. What will it take for our scholarship kids to come out on top?"
Creator Daniel Lawrence Taylor, who also voices Gus, the narrator on Boarders, talked about his connection to this project:
"Boarders has been a deeply personal project for me, and it’s been incredible to see how audiences have connected with the characters. From day one, I wanted to create something funny, honest, and proudly Black – and in this final term, I hope to finish their story as they face their final year with greater challenges, deeper friendships and the looming question of life beyond school."
Director of BBC Drama, Lindsay Salt, also commented on the experience:
Boarders has been a fun, sharp and timely addition to our screens since its launch two years ago, with star-making turns from its exceptional young cast. We're so excited to return to St Gilbert's one more time to bring viewers the conclusion of Daniel Lawrence Taylor's hit comedy-drama.
It will be incredibly exciting to witness the scholarship students return to the school—especially after the exceptional cliffhanger that was the Season 2 finale. The show is expected to air its final season in 2026, as filming is set to begin sometime later this year.
