Has The White Lotus revealed a main character? Theory explored

Mark White’s The White Lotus has returned with its third season, and this time, a bunch of super-rich people have gone to the Thailand outlet of the luxury resort chain. The characters of this season follow a similar pattern to the previous seasons; they are all extremely rich, annoying, and their dynamics are not at all what they seem on the surface.

Being an anthology series, The White Lotus does not overlap much when it comes to its storyline and characters. However, besides Tanya (Jennifer Coolidge) and Belinda (Natasha Rothwell), characters who have been seen in seasons 1 and 2 and seasons 1 and 3, respectively, the character of Greg (Jon Gries) has been a consistent presence in all three seasons of the show.

Greg, who is shown to be going by the name of Gary in The White Lotus Season 3, has also emerged as a key antagonistic character in the show. It has already been established that he killed Tanya and, with the inheritance money, bought a house not so far away from the resort in Thailand.

Greg has been present in all three seasons of The White Lotus

The audience was first introduced to Greg in The White Lotus Season 1. Back then, it had seemed that he was just a side character who eventually turned out to be Tanya’s romantic interest.

However, as the seasons progressed, Greg’s sinister interests seemed to be making themselves clear. Finally, in the second season, Greg hired a bunch of screaming gay people to kill Tanya, but the poor woman ultimately died by hitting her head as she tried to jump to ensure her safety.

Now, in season 3, Greg is back, and he has a different name. He is Gary now, who is dating a much younger woman named Chloe, who is dating for exactly the reason he dated Tanya: money.

Coincidentally, Bellinda also appears in this season, and naturally, Greg seems vaguely familiar to her. It should be mentioned here that Bellinda and Tanya have a history of their own, as the former had promised the latter money to help her set up her own business but abandoned the idea midway, leading to some obvious resentment on Tanya’s part.

Seeing Greg in Thailand, Belinda tries to approach him, but he denies that he ever met her. Google comes to Bellinda’s rescue as she finds out that the police are looking out for Greg in Italy, as he is a possible suspect in Tanya’s murder.

Greg’s secret is now known to Bellinda in The White Lotus

Greg’s consistently rising storyline has undoubtedly made him a central character in the show. Now, with Bellinda being aware of his reality, the audience is bound to think of Greg’s next move to ensure his safety.

The man is extremely cunning and selfish, and though it may seem like he might kill Bellinda for obvious reasons, given the intelligence he has shown throughout the seasons, it seems unlikely. The police are already after him, and committing another murder to draw further attention seems like a stupid move that Greg will likely avoid.

However, with his secret on the verge of being out, it now remains to be seen what Greg does and how it affects the storyline, given the kind of importance he has built for himself throughout the three seasons of The White Lotus.
