HBO's new Harry Potter series is a couple of years away, but the buzz around it is never-ending. And this time, it comes directly from the OG Harry Potter star himself. During a fun chat on Good Morning America, Daniel Radcliffe opened up about his sweet letter exchange with Dominic McLaughlin.

In a sequence, Radcliffe explained that he reached out to Dominic McLaughlin right after the 11-year-old was cast to play the iconic lead role. Speaking about it on Good Morning America, Radcliffe noted:

"I don't want to be a spectre in the life of these children, but I just wanted to write to him to say, 'I hope you have the best time, and an even better time than I did- I had a great time, but I hope you have an even better time."

Radcliffe has spent more than a decade portraying the role that made him a global sensation. The former Hogwarts star is finally passing the wand to the next generation, and his gesture of appreciating the young talents charmed the fans.

When the host praised him by saying that he's the gold standard for Harry Potter, Radcliffe humbly replied:

"I am the gold standard by default, cause well I'm the only one."

Radcliffe further explained to Good Morning America that he got even got a sweet reply from Dominic McLaughlin. Something was grounding, even nostalgic, about reading a message from a child now stepping into the famous role. He remembered what it felt like to be thrust into that spotlight at a tender age.

The pressure, the excitement, and the chaos, everything rolled into one. Even though we do not know the contents of McLaughlin's letter, here's what Radcliffe said about the child actors as he reminisced about old times:

"I just see the pictures of him and other kids, and I want to hug them. They just seem so young. I just look at them and say, 'Oh its crazy I was doing that at that age. But it's also incredibly sweet and I hope they're having a great time."
