In Episode 6, Sean, played by Mika Amonsen, was smitten with Xochitl Gomez's character Penny. However, amid the chaos, Sean gets his own new storyline that is expected to expand in the upcoming episodes.While looking for the culprit, Sean and his partner stumble over an unknown figure in a hoodie. Thinking it was the criminal they were looking for, Sean caught the person, who turned out to be a girl named Penny. The sparks between the two are undeniable from the start. However, he is then informed about Penny being on parole, making his potential romance story complicated before it even started.At the end of the episode, he decides to tell his father about Penny, who warns him about dating a criminal, as he is now a cop. While Danny did not reprimand him, it did give us a glimpse of how this new romance arc will complicate the father-son relationship in future episodes of Boston Blue, since Xochitl Gomez is revealed to appear for more episodes.Amonsen revealed in the Us Weekly interview how this new story arc will change the dynamic between Danny and Sean, as while there will be challenges, it will still improve their relationship further. He stated:"You’re going to see the pushback in different ways [from Danny’s side]. But you eventually see Danny recognize that his son is a full-grown man. Even when there is something that Danny disagrees with, you’re going to see him recognize that he just wants his son to be happy. There’s only so much Danny can impose - and Sean is at an age where he is making his own decisions."He also talked about this new chapter of Sean's life in Boston Blue, from which he is going to learn some more things in life, such as "work-life balance", and revealed:"Danny and Sean’s relationship challenges them but I think it challenges Sean in a way as well.
