Since its premiere in 2021, Yellowjackets has become one of the fan-favorite psychological horror shows.

It follows the lives of a group of teenagers who were stranded in the woods for a long time, which gradually made them lose their humanity as they embraced cannibalism for their survival. After the eventful finale of season 3, fans were awaiting the news of Yellowjackets Season 4, which was announced in May 2025.

Season 3 gave us glimpses of Shauna, played by Sophie Nélisse, being crowned as the Antler Queen and vowing to get her power back, in the present. During a recent interview with Collider at SDCC, Nélisse talked about Shauna’s leadership styles and said that it could lead her either way, as she has not read any scripts for Yellowjackets Season 3.

She shared:

"I'm very curious. I haven't seen any of the scripts. I kind of have a feeling that it will go either way."

More on this in our story.

Yellowjackets star Sophie Nélisse's recent comments about Shauna's leadership in the upcoming season

As mentioned, Nélisse gave an ambiguous answer regarding the leadership style of Shauna in Yellowjackets and didn’t confirm whether it would be a dictatorship or not. She shared that Shuana could be a terrifying leader in season 4.

To add to her previous comment, she said:

"Either she becomes even more isolated and meaner, if that's even possible, and just finds this leadership on her own, where she just terrorizes everyone, and it becomes some sort of dictatorship."

She also added that Shauna can become the opposite of what everyone’s expecting, and said:

"Or I feel like this will be where she hit a wall, and she'll need to take a step back and fall under everyone else's control."

At the end of season 3 of Yellowjackets, adult Shauna, played by Melanie Lynskey, finds herself alone as all the others are plotting against her. She then writes down whatever she remembers that had happened in the woods, and in a flashback scene, we see her being crowned as the Antler Queen, as she vows to get her power back in the present.

In the same interview, Nélisse also shared that due to how season 3 ended, she and other cast members had an idea if Yellowjackets would be renewed for a season 4 and said:

"The way Season 3 finishes, we were all like, 'Truly, this cannot be the end. There is no way this is not getting a renewal.' The fans have been so engaged, and I feel like people are loving it more and more every season."

She continued:

"I felt pretty confident that we would get Season 4. So, I feel like we all saw it coming, but we were just really thrilled when we finally got the approval."
