Peacock's Poker Face Season 2 shook things up a lot for Natasha Lyonne's Charlie after she finally managed to free herself from the mob.

The crime comedy-drama series followed Charlie, a human lie detector and a casino worker on the run from the mob since Season 1.

The latest episode reintroduced Beatrix Hasp, and after Charlie helps her solve Hasp's husband's murder mystery, she agrees to testify against Special Agent Daniel Clyde Otis, thus freeing Charlie from the mob.

This sudden, albeit happy turn for Charlie was a welcome twist, and new showrunner Tony Tost discussed how it may play out in Season 3 with ScreenRant:

''She's going to actually try to have a "normal life," and we'll have to see how that plays out.''

More on Poker Face in our story.

Poker Face showrunner teases potential Season 3 and a new direction for Charlie's story

While Poker Face has just started its sophomore chapter, episode 3, titled 'Whack-a-Mole,' finally saw the resolution for Charlie's mob story.

The plotline central to Charlie's character since season 1 was finally resolved last night when Charlie found Beatrix's husband's killer and earned her much-deserved freedom.

While the resolution is good news for Charlie, one can't help but wonder what is next for the human lie detector, as she has spent the majority of Poker Face running from the mob.

Episode 3's resolution gave Charlie's story a new resolution, and as Tost hinted to ScreenRant, Charlie might give normal life a try in the upcoming episodes:

''I can only speak on this season, though I have thoughts about where it could go, but she's going to give it a try [to normal life].''

While Tost hinted that Charlie will try to settle into her new life, it would certainly not be easy for her, as she has been on the road since Poker Face Season 1.

In addition to a fresh start for her character, Tost also teased that Charlie might face new challenges after her plan to settle in, which might ultimately play out in Season 3:

''But she'll get a sense that, maybe, life on the road has as many drawbacks as benefits. I think it'll be interesting towards the end of the season to see what that looks like, if Charlie does try to kind of settle in.''

While seeing the mob storyline resolve so quickly was shocking, it was partly Rian Johnson's (Season 1 showrunner) idea as Tost revealed what Johnson said to him:

''"Wouldn't it be kind of fun to have it suddenly resolved"''

This new twist is Charlie's new lease on life, and it looks like Tost will shake things up in the show's upcoming episodes as he teased with ScreenRant:

"We prefer to do this other thing and that might give us a chance to do some stuff that we might not otherwise have the bandwidth to do, just in terms of storytelling...''

Poker Face is currently streaming its second Season on Peacock. Episode 4, The Taste of Human Blood, will be released on May 15, 2025.
