HBO is developing a new adaptation of J.K. Rowling's book series, the Harry Potter TV series, which is set to premiere in early 2027. Dominic McLaughlin plays Harry Potter in the series, with Alastair Stout and Arabella Stanton as Ron and Hermione, respectively.

The series, directed by Mark Mylod and showrunner Francesca Gardiner, aims to properly adapt the novels over 10 years. Filming at Leavesden Studios began in July 2025. This series marks a big return to the Wizarding World, with a large supporting cast and a focus on sticking to the original narrative.

After two weeks of filming, Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout, the new protagonists of HBO's Harry Potter series, have completed their parts. The London Zoo, Leavesden Studios, and other UK locations were used to film key sequences. A makeshift school helps the young characters. After filming concludes in 2026, Season 1 will be released in 2027.

The first two weeks of production for HBO's highly anticipated Harry Potter television series have concluded, signaling the start of a new version of J.K. Rowling's renowned book series. Filming began on July 14, 2025, 14 years after the release of the last film in the original franchise. This series will be longer than the previous films, with each book adapted into a full season. With new performers bringing beloved characters to life, the show promises to be a faithful and comprehensive adaptation of the novels.

In the Harry Potter TV series, Dominic McLaughlin assumes the persona of the Boy Who Lived. Alastair Stout plays Ron Weasley, while Arabella Stanton plays Hermione Granger. Having been selected from thousands of auditions, all three are relatively new.

Stout will make his on-screen debut with this series; Stanton played the lead in Matilda the Musical on the West End, and McLaughlin previously starred in the series Grow. More than 32,000 kids were evaluated for the main parts throughout the rigorous casting process. The youthful trio's ability and chemistry have been praised by director Mark Mylod and showrunner Francesca Gardiner.

The first week of production was held at Leavesden Studios, where large sets were constructed to recreate key wizarding world locations. Scenes with sizable additional crowds were filmed at this location to give viewers an idea of the bustling environment at Hogwarts. In order to create a gloomy atmosphere while filming on location at Jenny's Restaurant in Hayes, the crew also used rain effects. The scene in the first book where Hagrid and Harry browse in Diagon Alley before stopping for dinner may be referenced here.

The London Zoo also had notable filming, notably in the displays with penguins and reptiles. Most likely, this is a rewriting of the scenario in which Harry accidentally speaks to a snake while visiting the Dursleys. Early paparazzi images revealed Daniel Rigby as Vernon Dursley, Mickey McAnulty as Piers Polkiss, Bel Powley as Petunia Dursley, Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley, and Dominic McLaughlin as Harry.

There were even more location shoots in week two. Actors were observed filming at Embankment Station on July 21, which might symbolize Harry and Hagrid's excursion to get school supplies. Several well-known individuals are in the cast.

Hagrid is played by Nick Frost, while the primary faculty and family parts are completed by Luke Thallon, Paul Whitehouse, Bertie Carvel, Katherine Parkinson, and Johnny Flynn. Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan, and Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy are among the new pupils at Hogwarts.
