HBO’s Harry Potter series has begun filming, and the recent reports from Redanian Intelligence suggest that the film's crew was recently spotted at Wardown Park in Luton, England.

The show, based on the eponymous fantasy book series, has been a point of contention since it was announced by the studio. One of the concerns was the necessity of adapting these novels again when there is already a film series for fans to revisit its magical world. Despite those concerns, the series is moving ahead with its production.

On July 14, Variety revealed that the series had officially begun filming with Dominic McLaughlin being cast as Harry Potter, replacing Daniel Radcliffe, who previously played the part. It was followed by the announcement of other characters from the story, which turned it into a classic that fans remember even decades after its debut.

The outlet revealed that the shoot had begun at the Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the U.K., which has offered its large infrastructure for sets of several Hollywood blockbusters. The latest leaked clips from the set reportedly reveal the show's crew working on some of the scenes in Wardown Park. However, there hasn't been an official report about this filming.

Francesca Gardiner is the showrunner of HBO's Harry Potter series, which hopes to offer another take on the popular fantasy novels that became highlights for millennials growing up in the 1990s and the 2000s. The latest adaptation might offer its fresher take geared toward the Gen Z audiences, who may not be familiar with the movie series that was released in the aughts.

Variety reports that Mark Mylod, who has won four Emmys for his work on HBO's satirical drama series Succession, will be the director on the studio's new show. Their report suggested that the shoot for the show's first season, which began sometime in July 2025, is expected to last until the spring of 2026.

Francesca Gardiner will also be a writer and executive producer on this project, where Dominic McLaughlin has been cast as the new Harry Potter, with Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger (replacing Emma Watson) and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley (replacing Rupert Grint) in the central roles in the story.

The first season is said to follow the narrative from the first book in the series, The Philosopher's Stone, tracing Harry's first year at the wizarding school after leaving his Muggle family and befriending Hermione and Ron.

Besides the three leads, the casting revealed so far includes John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell, Louise Brealey as Madam Rolanda Hooch, Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch, and Warwick Davis as Filius Flitwick, among others.

Since the announcement about its production, some set photos have begun resurfacing online. They show the massive mini-town specifically built to shoot this TV series. It is also supposed to include the Hogwarts school, which will be the story's focal point.
