The majority of the HBO Harry Potter TV series has already been cast, and it has also proceeded to shooting. According to an official announcement from HBO, shooting for the series started on July 14, 2025, and leaked set pictures have revealed that shooting is continuing in full swing.
Even though most of the main characters, such as the Golden Trio, the Hogwarts teachers, and the Dursleys, have been cast, there are some major roles left to cast as well, including the Potters and Lord Voldemort. On this note, one of the minor characters has also been reportedly cast for the HBO series.

Terry Boots has reportedly been cast for the HBO Harry Potter TV series
In the latest update on the ever-growing cast for the HBO Harry Potter TV series, Aaron Zhao has reportedly joined the cast as Terry Boots. Terry Boots was one of the minor characters in the book series, and even though his role was cast in the first few movies, his dialogues were soon absorbed by other students in the later movies.
Boots was present and a part of some of the most important moments for Harry in the years he spent at Hogwarts. Terry joined Hogwarts School in the same year as Harry, but he was sorted into the Ravenclaw house along with the other Ravenclaws such as Padma Patil, Anthony Goldstein, and Michael Corner. He went on to become friends with these students.
In their second year at Hogwarts, Boots was one of the students to get hurt during Lockhart's dueling club. Lockhart asked him to pinch his injury to get it to stop bleeding. In their fifth year, when the Golden Trio decided to create an organization to help teach their fellow students to defend themselves, Boots was one of the students who attended the first meeting. He mentioned to the other students how Harry had killed a basilisk with the Gryffindor sword in his first year to attest to Harry's bravery and magical skill in order to convince the other students to join "Dumbledore's Army."
When Draco decided to attack Harry at the end of the fifth year in the Harry Potter book series to get revenge for making Lucius' status as a Death Eater public, Boots was one of the students who defended Harry from Draco, Crabbe, and Goyle. He also joined when the Army was revived in its seventh year at Hogwarts around the time of Voldemort's attack.
Boots was also the one to provide Harry with information regarding Rowena Ravenclaw's diadem, which turned out to be one of the horcruxes that Harry had to destroy.
The young actor Aaron Zhao has not been seen in many projects so far, and the HBO series will be his biggest project to date. Nevertheless, hopefully, we get to witness most of these moments from the book with Terry Boots in the series as well.
The HBO series, so far, is on track for wrapping up the shooting by May 2026, and a 2027 release for the first season of the Harry Potter TV series.
