Real Housewives of Atlanta star Monyetta reveals being diagnosed with breast cancer recently. While talking to People Magazine, the star revealed that she gets routine full-body check-ups regularly, and this is exactly what led her to find something "benign" in her breast almost 10 years ago.

However, in September 2024, she sat down for a self-checkup once again. Monyetta described that she had a weird sensation in her left breast that was something out of the box. She says it felt like her body's way of "alerting" her that something was wrong.

Later in November 2024, she went for a mammogram and was diagnosed with stage 1 invasive ductal carcinoma. The doctors said that it was a lump and had a slow growth.

This made her sit back and realize that a lumpectomy would be best to rectify the situation and solve the matter. Her treatment started in January, where she had to go through multiple rounds of radiation to be cancer-free today in May.

Expressing her gratitude and feelings towards this whole journey, Real Housewives of Atlanta star Monyetta said,

"Because I caught the cancer early, I will be here for my kids. There’s nothing more important than getting checked often and early to protect your future. Our health is irreplaceable. I can’t thank my exceptional doctors and nurses enough. They are our heroes!”

Even though things have worked out greatly for her now, it was not always the case. When she first received the devastating news from her doctor, Monyetta recalls that it was "one of the hardest and scariest moments" of her life.

She explained,

"Everything around me stopped. My heart dropped. I was afraid. I was angry. I was just numb. While doing all of the biopsies and MRIs, I was first considering having a double mastectomy. But after my genetic testing came back favorable, and after sitting in my reality for some time, I decided on the lumpectomy."

The Real Housewives of Atlanta star then went on to advise people who might have a gut feeling about something being wrong with their bodies. She urges them not to ignore it ever and to always go to the doctor.

Calling it a "matter of life and death," Monyetta says that everyone's body has a way of telling them if something is wrong, and they must listen to it.

She celebrated her 45th birthday yesterday on May 31, 2025, and it had everyone wearing pink. The color is meant for breast cancer awareness.

Monyetta has two kids with her ex, NE-YO, and is currently married to Health Carter. She revealed the news to her previous partner and said that he was supportive of her journey and treatments.

The announcement to her entire family came when they were at the bowling alley together, celebrating Maddie's birthday last year. Her ex and current partner, along with all the kids, were present.
