The success of Crave and Jacob Tierney's Heated Rivalry has had many positive effects for author Rachel Reid. Several of her novels have become New York bestsellers, and the characters she concocted by herself are now being loved by people all around the world.

This in itself is success enough for the author, but it doesn't end there. The success of Heated Rivalry got so far that a medical expert reached out to Reid after Tierney spoke about her diagnosis during a press event.

The Heated Rivalry author was diagnosed with Parkinson's in the summer of 2023, around the same time when Tierney approached her regarding an adaptation of the Game Changer series. The Canadian author lives in a small place, and so it has been difficult for her to get in touch with experts regarding her diagnosis.

After the show's success, Tierney and the rest of the cast have been extremely busy in press events, and in one such event for CNN, Tierney was asked about Reid's diagnosis. Owing to the success and publicity of the show, Tierney's comments about Reid's diagnosis ended up reaching a Parkinson's expert.

Jacob was on CNN a few weeks ago. For whatever reason, the interviewer asked him about my Parkinson's diagnosis. I thought it was kind of odd, but then the next day, one of the top Parkinson's experts in the world reached out to me and asked if he could help me.

One of the top Parkinson's experts reached out to Reid regarding her diagnosis, and she now has an appointment scheduled in a few weeks, something that previously had her waiting on a five-year waiting list.

I've never gotten to talk to a Parkinson's expert. I've been on a five-year waiting list here because I live in a very small place. Now he's found me a Parkinson's expert, a neurologist, and I have an appointment in a couple weeks. That could change things for me because I'm not really getting the treatment that I should be getting. He also told me how to change my medication so I can sleep because I never slept. That change made me sleep through the night, which really helps with writing."

Reid explained that her diagnosis had added a lot of struggle to her writing process, as she could barely hold a mouse, let alone write for extended periods of time.

The positive effects of Heated Rivalry have been plenty, from some much-needed representation to expert medical attention for the author as well.
