Episode 3 of Heated Rivalry shifts the spotlight to Hunter and Kip, tracing their connection back to the 2014 Sochi Olympics.

The story starts with Scott Hunter who is having an unkind season while facing public criticism but things take another angle when he stops at a smoothie shop and is served by Kip, who is unaware of Hunter's identity and he hands him a blueberry banana smoothie. Sparks fly and thinngs get more real as they then start pursuing each other.

Their flirtation grows with every visit until Hunter finally invites Kip to a game. Kip dives into hockey culture, drags Elena along for moral support, and slowly falls for him. Meanwhile, Hunter battles Ilya’s teasing, a rare on ice clash with Shane, and the mounting pressure of staying closeted. Their chemistry boils over after a catering mishap at a fancy party, pulling them into a secret relationship that gets a little more complicated than what fans may think. Steamy moments follow, with more secrets, more closeted romance and a relationship that Kip has to follow on Hunter's terms because he still has not come out yet.

The story really leans into portraying how queer romances are viewed in the fields of sports, and it will certainly be interesting to see what route the narrative takes from here!

Heated Rivalry is now streaming on HBO Max.
