A quick recap of Heated Rivalry Episode 4

Heated Rivalry Episode 4 was titled Rose and continued Shane and Ilya's secret hookup from 2014 to 2016. During this time, the Montreal Metros won their first cup in sixteen years, a title they defended again in 2016. While Shane and Ilya continued to deny their feelings for each other to their respective friends, their dynamic shifted when Shane spent a night at Ilya's place after his insistence. Their hookup was different than usual, as the couple basked in domestic bliss and Ilya made a tuna melt for both of them.

However, their time together abruptly ends when Ilya calls Shane by his first name during their intense make-out, and the Metros Captain panics and flees Ilya's house. Later, Shane initiates a romantic relationship with Rose Landry, a popular movie star, which gives way to Ilya's jealous feelings. The final moments of the episode saw Ilya and Shane (with Rose) at a nightclub, after a rough game in Montreal. As the two continue to dance with their respective female partners, their feelings of genuine longing for each other are clearly visible.

What can you expect from Heated Rivalry Episode 5?

The upcoming entry in Heated Rivalry will mark the penultimate chapter in Shane and Ilya's love story. While Ilya and Shane have started to realize the seriousness of their relationship, neither of them is ready to accept or take the first step in each other's direction. However, the arrival of Rose Landry in the previous episode was interesting and marked a dynamic shift between the rivals.

While Shane abruptly ended their casual hookup and fled from Ilya's home, his bubbling feelings for the Boston Captain are apparent. The upcoming episode is expected to center on the couple as they come to terms with their emotions, cautiously navigating what their relationship means and daring to envision a future in hockey where they no longer have to hide their love and can finally be open about it.

Tune in to Heated Rivalry Episode 5 on HBO Max on December 19.
