During her recent interview with ScreenRant, Toni Collette was as clear as day with her point of view, saying that she couldn't have been more ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌explicit. And although Season 2 has not been confirmed by Netflix yet, Collette says:

"Hell yeah. We had the best time."

Toni Collette sounds fully ready to return to Tall Pines

If there was ever any doubt about Toni Collette coming back to Wayward, her recent comments about that doubt rest. While‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ promoting her new film Goodbye June in an interview with ScreenRant, Collette was directly asked about the future of the show.

The show was initially designed as a limited series; however, the creator, Mae Martin, has suggested that there could be more of the story to be revealed. Collette responded immediately without any hesitation.

She conveyed her thoughts to ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ScreenRant,

“Hell yeah. We had the best time. Are you kidding? And I love Mae, and we've talked about potential storylines, but I thought it had been buried, but maybe there is some hope. I don't know. I would totally do it.”

That answer alone says a lot. It shows that Wayward is still very much on her mind. She also confirmed that she and Mae Martin have already talked about where the story could go if the series gets renewed for another season.

At the same time, Collette has stayed honest. She admitted that she once believed the chances of another season were very small. Even so, she has not shut the door. If Netflix ever gives the show a green light again, Collette made it clear she would happily step back into the role of Evelyn Wade without thinking twice.

Why Evelyn Wade is still the heart of Wayward

Toni Collette’s character is a huge part of why Wayward works. Evelyn Wade is the founder and head teacher of Tall Pines Academy, a place that looks calm on the outside but hides something deeply wrong.

In the show, Evelyn comes across as warm, gentle, and caring. Parents trust her instantly. The town listens to her. She feels safe. That is what makes her scary.

Once the mask slips, Evelyn turns cold and ruthless. She is smart, controlled, and willing to cross any line to protect what she has built. The Netflix show uses her charm as a weapon, and Collette plays that balance perfectly. It is one of the reasons her performance stands out so much.

Given the fact that Toni Collette understands the humor, she can be quietly funny and then suddenly become terrifying. Evelyn is not loud or messy. She is calm, smiling, and dangerous, and Collette gives the show its emotional spine.

Wayward fans now have a real reason to stay hopeful. Toni‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Collette has been very vocal about her desire to come back, and she has even chatted with creator Mae Martin about potential storylines.

There is no official confirmation yet, but the thrill is definitely there and can be felt from a long way ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌off.

If a Season 2 ever does happen, Collette’s Evelyn Wade is ready to step back into Tall Pines. For now, that “hell yeah” says everything fans needed to hear.
