Drops of God is not a standard drama, it is a fashionable and high-stakes wine competition. The Apple TV+ series is about Camille Léger, a gifted wine author allergic to alcohol. Her long-lost father, wine master Alexandre Léger, passes away, and she goes to Tokyo to handle his huge wine library and holdings.

And now, there is a trick: Camille does not receive it automatically. She has to fight in a successive wine-tasting contest with Issei Tomine, the highest student of her father, to show who is actually worthy of the legacy.

Drops of God combines emotion, humor and culture through blind tastings and clever hints that span the globe, which is easy to enjoy even with no knowledge of wine. As the contest continues, Camille confronts her past, develops a surprising attachment with Issei and comes to understand that true inheritance is not money but human connections.

Drops of God Season 1

Drops of God Season 1 is both smart and globe-trotting and has a French-Japanese feel. When Alexandre dies, Camille goes to Tokyo and meets one of the talents, Issei, who highly regards the teachings of Alexandre.

The two embark on a set of tough wine exams that combine history, art and a keen sense of taste. Their trip is full of exquisite tastings, cultural diversity, and actual self-development. The nosebleeds that Camille experiences when under the influence of alcohol contribute to the comedy, as well as tension, since Camille is struggling with her personal problems on one hand and defending the legacy of Alexandre, on the other hand.

This is all different in the finale when Camille and Issei find out that they are half-siblings since they share the same father. Camille is declared the winner in the contest with the help of her childhood memory, which is linked to the beliefs of her father, yet she does not decide to win but shares the prize with Issei. What begins as an opposition concludes on a cordial, emotional tone, making rivalry a bond.

Why you’ll be hyped for Drops of God Season 2

While Drops of God Season 1 had an air of mystery that gradually unraveled itself, it seems that Season 2 is going to be even better than that, at least judging by what's been teased so far. Apple TV+ has recently confirmed that the new season is set to arrive on January 21, 2026.

Now that Camille and Issei know they are siblings, they team up to solve an even bigger puzzle: that of the world’s finest wine, a puzzle even their father had been unable to solve. They go on an adventure that crosses continents, stories, and truths that put both their capabilities and sibling relationship to the test.

In the first season, they were dealing primarily with inheritance, rivalry, and passing down. In Season 2, they’re increasing the stakes, traveling more of the world, and learning new secrets from the past, as well as experiencing personal growth.
