ABC's hit crime drama High Potential Season 2, starring Kaitlin Oslon, premiered on Tuesday, September 16, 2025. The latest episode of High Potential Season 2, titled 'Eleven Minutes,' dropped on September 30, 2025, on ABC, and it sets the tone for the upcoming season.
Previously, in High Potential Season 2, we saw that Morgan was unsure about whether to share Roman's updates/ whereabouts with Ava or not. Upon Karadec's suggestion, Morgan decides to reveal it to Ava right before dropping her off at school. Soon, Morgan gets a call informing her that Ava has been arrested for vandalizing property and making graffiti on the wall.
When Morgan sees Ava in handcuffs, she loses her cool, and well, what happens next is no surprise: The mother-daughter duo ends up in jail. Even though the episode does not focus on Roman's updates, it deals with Ava's reaction. For a teen who is practically grown without her father, and now bombarded with the truth of his disappearance, the exaggerated reaction seems fitting.
Here's what the showrunner, Todd Harthan, has to say about Ava's reaction to Roman's disappearance and the latest updates. Speaking to TVLine, he said:
"It’s a dark cloud that hangs over Ava’s head every single day. It’s probably the first thing she thinks about when she wakes up and the last thing she thinks about when she goes to bed, and Morgan doesn’t want her daughter living under that cloud anymore."

High Potential Season 2 Episode 3: Showrunner Todd Harthan on Morgan revealing to Ava about Roman's whereabouts
Speaking to TVLine, Todd Harthan explains why he thinks Morgan revealed Ava about Roman's recent updates, saying:
"There are certain things you hide from your kids to protect them, but at some point you cross a line where it becomes more harm than good. Morgan has gotten to that line and is smart enough to know that Ava is mature enough to handle it. In many ways, Ava is wise beyond her years, so Morgan tags her in."
Let's roll back to the scene where Morgan tells Ava about Roman's whereabouts. Just before dropping her children off at school, Morgan pulls aside Ava and tells her that her father, Roman, was staying at a hotel in Nevada for a few weeks (as per Arthur's revelations). While Ava digs in for more information, Morgan tells her that she knows nothing more about it. Before leaving, Morgan checks in on Ava, kisses her on the forehead, and asks whether she is fine or not. Ava assures her that she is fine and will walk to school.
But that is not what exactly happens; Ava bunks school and vandalizes property. Morgan finds herself cuffed on the pavement while a police officer refuses to uncuff her. This angers Morgan, who throws paint on the wall, which somehow ruins the officer's uniform, and they both end up in jail. In jail, Ava is clearly pissed and refuses to talk to Morgan.
Harthan tells TVLine that at this moment, it is not about Morgan's wish to reunite with Roman; it is more about Ava finding the truth about her father's disappearance:
"It’s all coming from the place of a mother wanting to answer these questions and get closure for her daughter."
Back in the house, Ava apologizes for her behavior. Morgan also apologizes and explains how she should have been mindful of the time and the way she revealed Roman's updates. Meanwhile, Ava reveals that now she feels worse after knowing that her father, Roman, was alive the whole time. It was better for her when everything was kept a secret.
Morgan makes Ava understand that Roman might have a valid reason for his disappearance and his decision to stay away from the family. In between the mother-daughter bonding session, Ava helps Morgan with a clue/lead in Nathan Gould's murder case.
High Potential Season 2 Episode 3: Showrunner on what's next on the ABC crime drama
Things are clearly going to get complicated in the upcoming episodes of High Potential Season 2. Whether Morgan finds out Roman or not is a pivotal plot of the season. Todd Harthan reveals that for both Morgan and Ava, their search for Roman is going to get tougher, along with a shocking revelation that could topple their world upside down in a moment:
"Not going to be a smooth ride. How that unfolds, both good and bad, is going to be powerful and compelling. And it leads to some pretty big reveals."
