Hightown Season 1 recap

The story of Hightown begins with two men killing a girl and fleeing the scene with her body. However, the whole murder is witnessed by the girl’s best friend from a distance. When the body washes ashore and is found by Jackie, she starts an investigation. Meanwhile, officers Ray Abruzzo and Alan Saintille get involved, and Alan recognizes the victim as his informant, Sherry Henry.
On the other hand, Hightown also focuses on Frankie, who is Provincetown’s drug kingpin and continues to work despite being locked up. Viewers also get a glimpse into Jackie’s personal life, as she is an alcohol addict and a drug abuser. When Jackie checks into rehab, she discovers Krista, who is the witness seen at the start of the series. Jackie tries to find Krista with the help of her friend Junior, who actually dumped the body on Frankie’s orders.
Ray attempts to get Frankie’s former partner on his side and reaches a man named Osito, who pulled the trigger that night. Jackie’s addiction becomes an obstacle to the case, and Junior and Osito kill Krista. As Jackie strives for sobriety and closes in on Osito, Ray develops feelings for Renee, who is conflicted.
When Jackie confronts Junior, she is interrupted by Osito, who now wants to kill Junior under Frankie’s command. However, Osito kills his partner instead and recruits Junior as his partner in drug operations. Junior realizes he is trapped and seemingly takes his own life through a drug overdose.
Jackie is traumatized by her friend's death and believes Osito is hiding at the house of a drug kingpin named Wayne. Ray leads a team in a raid, and Jackie and Osito come face-to-face. While Jackie sustains injuries during a shootout, Osito is arrested, and the story of Hightown Season 1 concludes.
Ray and Jackie’s character arcs on Hightown

Even though Ray is happy about Osito’s arrest, he soon learns from Frankie that Renee was working for him all along. Renee was therefore playing the role of a double agent by working for Frankie and getting close to Ray. Eventually, Ray is called into the station and shown a video of his sexual affair with Renee, who secretly filmed it and framed him by making it look like he was soliciting sexual favors against her wishes.
The charges against Frankie are dropped, and Ray is immediately suspended. It is also revealed that Ray had a sexual relationship with Sherry, so he can no longer continue investigating the case. Ray finally decides to make a comeback and admits his faults in front of Jackie.
On the other hand, Jackie begins to feel hopeful as she joins the Narcotics Unit and is recognized for helping in a drug raid. Jackie learns that Alan is the person who improved her situation, and she eventually gets to join the narcotics team. Jackie also wants to join the unit because she aims to avenge her friend Junior's death.
Frankie’s release and how it propels Hightown further

When Frankie is released from prison, he is welcomed by Renne and his child, Frankie Jr. Jackie watches from a distance as the release of Frankie means that the drug business will soon become even more present in Cape Cod. On the other hand, Renee seems to be caught between two men, Ray and Frankie, and risks losing her connection with Frankie Jr.
On the other hand, Osito is in the hospital, and Alan informs him about Frankie’s release. He offers Osito a chance to secretly assist the police, as Frankie might kill him now. Frankie’s release and its consequences, like the future of a character such as Osito, therefore open up new possibilities for Hightown in upcoming seasons.
