Hit the Top or The Best Hit premiered in 2017 and is still considered an underrated K-drama. The time-travelling K-drama narrates the story of Yoo Hyun-jae, a popular K-pop idol, who time-travels to the future, in 2017, from his time, 1993. In the new timeline, he learns that he had been declared missing 20 years ago. While learning to live in the modern world, he also tries to look for the reason behind his disappearance in 1994.

He meets the people he grew up with, reconnects with his son, Ji-hoon, and also learns about the illness the other Hyun-jae from 1994 suffers from. In the penultimate episode of Hit the Top, it is revealed that Hyun-jae can time-travel and is actually from an alternate time from the one that disappeared in 1994. He travels back in time and tries to convince the other Hyun-jae to come with him to the future, where his illness is curable.

However, Hyun-jae from 1994 refuses, as he did not want to change anything in the future after learning about his son, Ji-hoon, doing well. Here's more about the ending of the KBS K-drama.

While Hyun-jae fails to convince the 1994 Hyun-jae to come with him to 2017 in Hit the Top, he is satisfied with not returning to his own timeline and staying in 2017, and one of the reasons was Woo-seung, who was the only one seen suffering when Hyun-jae went back in time. However, the sadness quickly faded away when Hyun-jae was sent back to 2017.

Hyun-jae later meets up with Gwang-jae and tells him about everything, who then asks him to work at World Agency and train new idols. He also suggests him to return to performing as he still looks like a young man due to travelling straight from 1993. However, Hyun-jae refuses the offer as he does not want that kind of fame anymore and settles to become a songwriter instead.

He also informs Ji-hoon about meeting his father and tells him that he was proud of him, and also gives him the bracelet that Hyun-jae from 1994 wanted him to have. Overall, the slice-of-life time-traveling K-drama ended on a happy and hopeful note for its characters.
