Netflix’s latest political thriller, Hostage, premiered on August 21, 2025, with an intriguing storyline that would keep you hooked throughout its five episodes. It narrates the story of two political leaders who have to choose between the country and their family and personal life, in a time of crisis.

With an ensemble cast that includes Julie Delpy and Suranne Jones, among others, the miniseries not only shines with its thrilling plot but also due to the performance of the actors.

The story of Hostage begins with the British P.M. hosting the French President, as they both get entangled in a situation where everything in their lives is at stake, as one’s husband gets kidnapped while the other gets blackmailed.

Here’s a list of cast and characters appearing in Hostage:

1) Suranne Jones as Abigail Dalton

Jones plays Abigail Dalton, the Prime Minister of U.K. In Hostage, Abigail’s husband is kidnapped, and the kidnappers demand that she resign from her post. Jones depicts her character as a tough political leader who tries not to give in to the situation and finds a way to protect her family as well as the country.

The English actress has appeared in several popular British shows such as Coronation Street, Save Me, and Gentleman Jack.


2) Julie Delpy as Vivienne Toussaint

Delpy’s Vivienne Toussaint is the other important half of the story of the Netflix show. She is the French president, who finds herself in turmoil. In the Netflix miniseries, Delpy’s Vivienne has to fight for her position and reputation as she gets blackmailed by the same kidnappers to force Abigail to resign from her post, or her explicit video would be made public.

The French actress needs no introduction as she has been a part of several popular Hollywood projects, such as the Before trilogy with Ethan Hawke, and 2 Days in Paris, among others.


3) Lucian Msamati as Kofi Adomako

Msamati plays a very important role in the Netflix miniseries as Kofi Adomako, who is a part of Abigail’s team and tries his best to get to the bottom of the kidnapping and investigate the crime.

English-Tanzanian actor has also been seen in popular HBO fantasy drama, Game of Thrones, as Salladhor Saan, and has also appeared in the Oscar-winning film, Conclave.


4) Ashley Thomas as Dr. Alex Anderson

Thomas plays Alex Anderson in the Hostage. He is Abigail’s husband, who has been kidnapped and used as leverage to force her to resign from her post.

Notable TV shows that the British actor has appeared in include In Flight, Black Mirror, and The Serpent Queen, among others.


5) Jehnny Beth as Adrienne Pelletier

Another powerful female character in the political thriller is Jehnny Beth’s Adrienne, who is described as the right-hand woman of French President Vivienne, and is helping out in the matter with the kidnappers.

Beth has appeared in the Oscar-nominated film Anatomy of a Fall.


6) Corey Mylchreest as Matheo Lewis

In Netflix’s Hostage, Mylchreest’s Matheo adds another layer of family drama as Vivienne’s stepson, who has a difficult relationship with her due to their different political views.

The English actor gained prominence with his role as King George III in Netflix’s Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story and recently in the film My Oxford Year.


7) Isobel Akuwudike as Sylvie

Akuwudike’s Sylvie is Abigail and Alex’s daughter in Hostage. As per the trailer, Sylvie finds it hard to understand why Abigail is not giving up her post to save Alex.

The young actress was also seen in The Road Trip.


8) James Cosmo as Max

James Cosmo is another member of Abigail’s family in the Netflix thriller. He is her father and is in the hospital, who does not know about the mayhem his daughter’s family is going through.

The veteran Scottish actor has many popular films and TV shows in his filmography, which include films such as Braveheart, Wonder Woman, and shows like Jack Ryan and Game of Thrones, among others.
