A recap of Hostage Episode 3

The episode of Hostage begins with Abigail’s speech taking over the news, and Adrienne Pelletier, Secretary-General of the President's Office, meeting a man. At Downing Street, Political Secretary Tristan Taylor is instructing the team to distribute calls while press secretary Zadie hands a message from the President of the US to Chief of Staff Kofi Adomako. Abigail heads into the House of Commons and gives an emergency statement about the threat level to UK being increased to critical.
An MP shows something to opposition leader Oliver on his phone, who tells Abigail that a video about a five-year-old Ataff is circulating. His mother went to a 24-hour pharmacy to get medicine for Ataff’s asthma, but the store was closed and Ataff died on the street. Abigail admonishes Oliver for using a child for his gain and she says she will fix the drug crisis.
Meanwhile, Pelletier tells Toussaint that her husband Elias is here, and he wants to know what the kidnappers are blackmailing the President with. Toussaint tells him there is proof of a past relationship, adding that she needs the support of her husband and media tycoon Elias to win the upcoming election. Matheo is Toussaint's stepson, and she thinks that his girlfriend Saskia knows about the past relationship, too. However, Abigail does not know, and she could be used to get to the people.
On the other hand, Abigail comes back home in Hostage and tries to talk to her daughter Sylvie. However, Sylvie tells Abigail that she is the one who told everything to the journalist Simon, as she thought that Abigail would finally choose her family, but she still does not care about her father.
In French Guiana, Thomas tells the doctors to escape quickly, and Alex agrees. Kofi visits Abigail and he tells her that Toussaint is on her way. Kofi also admires Abigail for putting her country first, but Abigail is worried as the kidnappers have gone quiet.
Toussaint arrives and she does not like that Abigail went on TV and created problems for her. Even the US is now pressuring Toussaint. Abigail mentions that she wants the US to launch a rescue mission. Toussaint says that she could do it but she wants to know who is blackmailing her. Abigail states that she will do it if Toussaint saves Alex and gives drugs to the UK. Toussaint agrees.
While Ayesha is waiting for a prescription, Abigail sends her a list of British and French names from the summit for a background check. Pelletier visits Toussaint and tells her that everyone is waiting for her response to Abigail’s broadcast. Toussaint mentions that she was talking to Philippe Arnault, the pharmaceutical supplier. A masked gunman also arrives on a private jet and watches the news about Attaf. Abigail has a meeting with her cabinet, about not telling them about the kidnapping. She assures them the drug problem will be solved.
When Abigail comes home, her dad tells her she is losing Sylvie and her family. When Abigail says that she has a plan, her father does not believe her and is furious that she is not doing anything to get Alex back. On the other hand, Matheo and Saskia are interrupted by Toussaint’s security. Matheo reveals that Saskia knows about him and Toussaint, and Elias suggests that everyone goes to Church as it will drown Abigail’s news.
On the other hand, Alex is trying to escape with the help of Thomas and Toussaint, and Abigail meet Ayesha. She tells Abigail that Kofi has opened a new bank account and has set up a shell company, adding that 72,000 Euros were deposited and withdrawn. Toussaint commences the rescue mission, and Abigail and Toussaint tell Kofi and Pelletier that they are launching a French team.

Alex is finally saved by the French military in Hostage. He and Abigail have a talk, and Abigail runs to Sylvie so she can speak to her dad. On the other hand, Kofi tries to get Pelletier arrested as he has compromised the mission, and Abigail tells Kofi about his offshore account and suspends him.
Further, the main gunman and three others go to a vigil for Attaf and, after a smoke grenade is pulled, the main gunman takes Attaf’s mother away. Toussaint goes to Church to boost publicity, and Elias and Toussaint then have a fight over each other’s secrets. As Toussaint addresses the press about Alex’s release and Pelletier’s arrest, Ayesha tells Abigail about the rot at Ataff’s vigil.
Matheo arrives home and discovers Saskia has left. He sees her laptop that has strange messages. Meanwhile, Ayesha gets a call, with the caller asking for Abigail. Tristan records the call and Abigail tells the man that they have Pelletier. Matheo tries to call Saskia but she is at the hospital. Saskia kills Abigail’s dad by injecting something, and the man on the phone tells Abigail that Alex is saved but the country will burn.
