"It was a hostage situation" — Love Is Blind fans support Colleen and Matt’s divorce

Love is Blind couple Colleen Reed and Matt Bolton announced their divorce in a joint statement on Instagram. The two have been together for four years. However, their relationship has always raised question marks from fans who saw them on TV time and time again.

It all started in the pods when Colleen had two connections, Matt and Cole. She decided to solidify her bond with the former and broke off with Cole, who decided to pursue Zanab.

Now that they were finally engaged and on a honeymoon together, Matt's hidden feelings came to light. Fans felt he was not okay with Colleen talking to Cole face to face when the entire cast met in a group setting.

Later, the two fought when they were living in apartments. Colleen went out with some friends to cool off. However, Matt was so sure he disapproved of this behavior that he was ready to bail on her and end their engagement.

This had viewers all over the internet insisting that Colleen leave Matt. However, the two still decided to get married during the Love is Blind finale, which came as a huge shock.

Netizens were counting the days till Colleen and Matt announced their divorce, and it has finally come. Getting vocal about their thoughts on Reddit, a Love is Blind fan wrote,

"Painful for her? She’s probably proud of herself for finally having the courage to leave him. Everyone saw it was a hostage situation."

"I feel bad because my initial response was thank Jesus for that. Im sure it's painful for her, but she can do and deserves so much better. I dont say that lightly, either. I know sometimes people just dont present well on TV, and edits can really change a way a person is perceived. I just got bad vibes from him, since the beginning," read a comment.

"She seemed genuinely afraid of that man," a fan posted.

"I know a lot of us are like “girl we knew, we saw it coming” but at the end of the day my heart hurts for her. She’s just a girl like many of us who wanted to be loved and now it’s coming to a close. I’m sure her heart is hurting, no matter how toxic their relationship seemed from the outside," a fan sympathized with Colleen.

Colleen and Matt have been together for four years, and fans were not able to understand how they lasted this long. They felt he would constantly disrespect her and threaten to leave if he thought she stepped out of line.

Now announcing their divorce on social media, the Love is Blind couple explained how they have been separated for a while now. The two wrote that they are working through the entire process. They then thanked everyone who has supported their journey till now.
