House of David Season 2 Episode 5 recap: The Witch's prophecy and the strength of the enemy's sword

House of David Season 2 Episode 5 begins after a time jump from the fourth episode. The challenges that David faced during this time helped him become a hardened warrior. However, he still yearns for Mychal. House of David Season 2, episode 5 starts off with the Israelites facing new and dangerous challenges on their way. David is now faced with the challenge of leading his troops to the path of success.

The Witch’s prophecy and the strength of the enemy’s sword in House of David Season 2 Episode 5

In the last episode of House of David Season 2, we have seen how David is still trying to become a good leader. His skills were still lacking. Now, after the time jump, David is a strong warrior. He has knowledge of distinct warfare techniques. David and the Israelites are successful in driving the Philistines off their territory. However, they keep coming back. With each time, the strength of the Philistines keeps increasing.

It can be understood that their swords are made of better quality. These high-quality swords are able to withstand the wrath of their enemies. If they get stronger, they will be able to overthrow their enemies with ease. The worry about the quality of swords leads Abner to understand that they need to find swords that would be stronger.

On the other hand, King Saul and Ahinoam’s relationship keeps deteriorating. Ahinoam tries to make things better with Saul; however, it seems to be quite difficult. At the palace, Abner begins to search for more about the swords that could lead them to victory.

He deciphers the signature from the sword of Goliath that David used. Abner takes the sword to King Saul and tells him about the master metal forger at Endor, who also used a similar signature. He then asks Saul to send a handful of men to persuade this swordmaker to teach them how to forge the strong swords. Abner, along with a few others, reaches Endore and begins their search.

House of David Season 2, episode 5, then gets more and more complicated. Abner and the others are finally able to find the swordsmith. The swordsmith tells them that he uses iron as the new element to enhance the strength of the swords. He adds that the heat increases the strength of the swords even further. David tries to persuade the swordsmith to teach them how to make these swords; however, he refuses.

Abner then bribes the man by telling him about his daughter. Abner tells him that he would help him find his daughter in exchange for his help. This makes the man agree to help them right away. However, their challenge does not end when a witch arrives and puts them all in a trance. They are then taken to a secluded place and are introduced to the Witch of Endor.

It is revealed that the witch is Abner’s mother. She then gives each of them a prophecy. However, her prophecy about David urged him to live “in the truth”. When the witch lets them go, Abner tries to make them understand that they should not believe the words of the Witch of Endor.

However, her words have already impacted each of their minds, especially David’s. As soon as David returns, he tells King Saul that he will not marry Mirab as he does not love her. The king is furious to hear David’s words, but David is adamant.

The path to the throne is now paved, and the challenges are going to get further complicated. With David’s refusal to accept King Saul’s orders, the stage is all set for more complications.
