The House of the Dragon, the most acclaimed epic fantasy drama of HBO, a spin-off of Game of Thrones, has finished shooting the third season, which is also another significant milestone in the tale of the Targaryen saga. It is not known until the explosive Season 2, which left Westeros on the verge of full-scale civil war.

The second season ended in a tone of devastating losses for both Team Black and Team Green since the effects of killing Prince Jaehaerys and avenging Rhaenyra were more devastating to the state. The final scenes were sending a hint that the theme of the further battles would be revenge, dragons, and switching sides.

House of the Dragon Season 3 may now be expected to soar even higher now that they have been produced and the fans may expect fire, and blood.

According to different sources, House of the Dragon season 3 has finished filming in Belfast, Northern Ireland and Spain, and this implies that post-production is now in progress before it is expected to be released in 2026. The third season will continue with the bloody Targaryen civil war that was ravaging the family decades ago (nearly 200 years) prior to the rise of power of Daenerys.

Whereas Season 2 was based on the unbelievable behavior of the war, like the outrageous actions of Aemond, and the pangs and wrath of Rhaenyra, Season 3 will set the war in its most bloody period ever. The series is purported to incorporate great battles, including the Fall of Harrenhal and the Battle of Rooks Rest, which are the greatest dragon battles to date.

Ryan Condal, the showrunner, hinted that the following season would no longer be built around politicking, but it would be built around open wars, without any dispensation to the show of its core subject (tragedy and family life). The proliferated dragon line-ups with Vermithor, Silverwing, and Moondancer are some of the scenes of going-on records on HBO.

This early completion of the filming also presents an opportunity to ensure that the size and the years of VFX teams used in HBO are at full perfection in regard to the realism of the show. The insiders have indicated that Season 3 could become the most emotional part of the four-season plan of the show: building the decline of great houses and transforming the Targaryen dynasty forever.

Since now the cameras have fallen silent, all are turned to the post-production - and to the prospect of another hot-blooded, ravaging volume to the levy on the Iron Throne Dance.

House of the Dragon Season 3 cast

Season 3 will feature returning roles of Emma D’Arcy as Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen and Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen, whose relationship becomes unstable in the mess. Olivia Cooke returns to the role of Alicent Hightower, who is also joined by Ewan Mitchell as vengeful Prince Aemond, and Tom Glynn-Carney as King Aegon II.

The other casting members who are reprising include Rhys Ifans, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, and Fabien Frankel and they are part of the supporting cast. The new entries are bound to showcase some of the most significant personalities in history, like Hugh Hammer and Addam Velaryon, so that the civil war could be expanded.

As the shooting is already underway, HBO believes that the third season will be more grotesque, grand, and heartrending, it will be bringing House of the Dragon to the largest scale it has ever had in its bloody history of Westeros.
