House of Guinness Episode 6 began with citywide raids on the Irish Republican Brotherhood, where Patrick Cochrane is arrested and put in jail by the police. This prompts his sister Ellen to ask her one-night stand lover, Edward, to intervene and help them.
The episode was dedicated to scandulous romantic relationships for both Edward and Arthur, who were torn between their duty as the Guinness heirs and love. While Arthur fell into a trap laid by his Uncle Henry with the help of his lover, Patrick, Edward was torn between his commitment to Adelaide and his love for Ellen.
Here is the complete House of Guinness Episode 6 recap.
House of Guinness Episode 6 recap: Edward helps Ellen
Patrick Cochrane learns about his sister's inappropriate one-night stand with Edward and accuses her of cosying up with the enemy when she meets up with him in prison. While this betrayal was fresh for Patrick in House of Guinness Episode 6, he learns that Edward has arranged for him to settle in New York. On Ellen's behest, Edward pulled some strings and managed to get Patrick out of jail. The Cochrane sibling will be sent to New York, away from the British rule and he will also be employed by the Guinnesses to expand their business in America.
However, the Fenian leader is not thrilled about this arrangement and spits in Byron Hedges' face when he relays this information to him. Patrick boldly asserts that he would rather choose to rot in jail than be indebted to those beer-brewing Guinness siblings. Byron subtly asks him to either choose this as his best offer or face the consequences of going against him.
House of Guinness Episode 6 recap: Anne schemes for Edward and Adelaide's union
While the eldest sibling spent House of Guinness Episode 6 teasing Edward about his romance with a Fenian, their sister schemed to marry Edward to their third cousin, Adelaide. Like a true visionary, Anne noticed her brother and Adelaide's shared interests in philanthropy and used this to send them on a trip to Cloonboo village. Adelaide is disappointed to see Guinness' riches when she visits the Iveagh House, while the rest of the country, especially Cloonboo, is suffering in poverty.
Edward joins Adelaide in Cloonboo and is shocked to see the plight of the people after the famine. He orders his guard to pivot Guinness' resources to the village and even digs a grave himself. While Edward was pleased with his actions, Adelaide accused him of putting on an act just to impress her. However, Edward denied her accusations and confessed that he had changed his attitude because of Ellen. Edward confides about his feelings for Ellen to Adelaide and the two share a heart-to-heart moment with each other.
While Adelaide began to change her opinion about Edward and started warming up to him, the Guinness sibling was still plagued by his feelings for Ellen.
Arthur fell into a trap in House of Guinness Episode 6
While Edward's feelings for Ellen only grew stronger in House of Guinness Episode 6, romance was also brewing for his brother, Arthur. The eldest sibling had married Lady Olivia, but the two only shared an amicable relationship and Olivia was still intimately involved with Sean Rafferty.
Meanwhile, Arthur found love in Patrick, the sex worker turned brewery worker at the titular cooperage. While Arthur was scared about being caught with Patrick, he kissed him in the middle of the brewery and asserted his boldness. This wins him an invitation to an upcoming high-society gathering for homosexual men. Patrick claims that he would be happy to finally dance with Arthur in public.
However, this was just a ploy on Patrick's part and he reports about the party to Arthur's Revered Uncle Henry, who plans to expose Arthur's sexuality in front of the world. He asks Patrick to keep quiet and enjoy the night with Arthur. House of Guinness Episode 6 ends with Uncle Henry waiting for the clock to strike 10 and the police to arrest Arthur from the party.
