How Alien: Earth Season 2 could expand the franchise, according to creator Noah Hawley

It has just been a month since Alien: Earth hit our screens, but fans are already excited and ready for Season 2. In an exciting turn of events, it seems as though creator Noah Hawley is aligned with these expectations, and already has a vision and destination ready for Alien: Earth Season 2, making it clear that the franchise is here to stay.

Alien: Earth is set two years before the events of the 1979 movie Alien. This means the series can build up to the events of the movie, giving it ample space to discover the events that took place.

While fans were wondering whether Alien: Earth was a single-season show, creator Noah Hawley has confirmed otherwise in a recent interview.

Alien: Earth showrunner Noah Hawley has confirmed Season 2 of the show

During a recent interview, showrunner Noah Hawley confirmed that not only was he sure that Season 2 would be coming, he even had a vision and direction ready for the upcoming season that could take the franchise ahead.

Answering this much-asked question, Hawley revealed,

"I think that I have a destination in mind story-wise, which allows me to know what the story is I'm telling, what it means. And I don't know how long it takes to get there, but I do have a sense of where we go in success. And you know, the question becomes: how streamlined can we make the process so that you're not waiting for three, or four, or five years for more?"

In fact, John Langraf, Head of FX, even confirmed that they had spoken to Hawley about at least two seasons of Alien: Earth while the first season was still in production.

"Noah is deep in work on Season 1 of 'Alien: Earth' right now. We’re in post-production, and we are talking to him and watching cuts every week. We’re pretty bullish on 'Alien: Earth' and we’ve told him that assuming, as we hope, 'Alien: Earth' is a returning television series, we want him to focus on on at least writing two seasons of it before returning to a possible sixth season of 'Fargo.' So it’s going to be a little while, but I’m also an intensely proud of that show."

While there is no information available right now about when fans can expect to see Season 2, at least there is the surety that they will get to see a second season of the show, regardless of when that might be.

Alien: Earth was released on August 12, 2025, and is available to stream on Hulu.
