Andor Season 2 has been bringing the Star Wars series franchise to life with the critical acclaim that it is receiving. The second installment of a prequel to the 2016 Rogue One, the show leads up to the events of the rebellion in Rogue One, where the rebels stole the Death Star plans. The first group of episodes (Episode 1-3) of Season 2 established how the Empire didn't consider the Rebellion to be a true threat to them. The second group of episodes, however, (Episode 4-6), now streaming on Disney+, are exploring an almost-a-decade-old Star Wars trick and doing it quite successfully.
The footage released for the second installment of Andor made it clear that the series would explore the Ghorman Massacre, which has been mentioned in previous Star Wars projects.
Here's how Andor Season 2 is using a decade-old trick for establishing the Ghorman massacre.
Andor Season 2 proves that the Ghorman planet suffers in every possible scenario
The Ghorman Massacre was a tipping point in the rebellion's fight against the Empire, as it pushed Mon Mothma to leave the Senate and Coruscant and bring together all the rebellious forces scattered throughout the Galaxy. This is a part of the canon originally established by the Star Wars Legends however, Andor will use this almost-a-decade-old trick from Star Wars as one of the story arcs to lead to the events of Rogue One.

Luthean Rael sent Cassian Andor to the Ghorman planet because he found out that the Empire was interested in the planet. Vel Sartha, Cassian Andor, and Cinta Kaz come together to turn the Ghorman peaceful resistance, which involves political arguments and town halls, into something much more violent. Dedra, on the other hand, also sent Syril Karn to infiltrate the Ghorman resistance from the inside. Finding out about the empire's interest, and not knowing why, Rael advised Cassian to consider that if a planet like Ghorman burns, it will burn very brightly and attract a lot of attention to the cause.
"Think about a planet like Ghorman in rebellion, a planet of wealth and status. it will burn, very brightly"
This is the tragic fate of the Ghorman resistance in Andor Season 2: the Empire is setting them up, and the rebels, especially Luthen, are pushing them for their own cause. It doesn't take long for the rebels to realize that the Ghorman people, whose spark of resistance they've turned into a fire, are not meant to succeed. This fire would not reach the Empire, rather, it would burn the Ghormans.

In the Ghorman massacre, the Empire kills a majority of innocent and peaceful protestors on the Planet, pushing the rebellion into an equally brutal response. The only hope is that the Ghormans would burn so bright in Andor Season 2 that their fire would spread the rebellion's light throughout the galaxy.
So far, Andor Season 2 is doing an incredible job of taking the real-world canon of the Star Wars universe and blending it into the franchise. It will be interesting to see how Andor brings this devastating moment to life and the consequences that follow.
