Gen V stands as a separate entity in The Boys universe, but the sophomore season of the spin-off is powering up to be one of the biggest additions to the universe. From an exclusive look into the Homelander-run America to cameos from some of the biggest villains on the show, this season is about to be as dynamic as one of Homelander's heat vision attacks.
The latest teaser from the sophomore season of Gen V reveals a brand-new cameo that changes everything for the upcoming fifth and final season of The Boys. Keep reading to find out the importance of this surprise cameo and the damage they can inflict in the final season.
A surprise cameo revealed in a Gen V Season 2 teaser changes everything for The Boys Season 5
The Boys Season 4 ending left the two sides of the brewing war on extremely uneven ground. Homelander, on one side, was completely in control of America after overthrowing the governing party. Whereas the gang, on the other side, had completely broken down, with more than half of them being captured by Homelander's minions and the other half on the run.
The ending made it clear that the gang was brazenly overpowered in the fight against Homelander, and they were going to need more allies than ever if they were aiming to defeat Homelander.
The new Gen V teaser revealed that Stan Edgar, the former Vought CEO and Victoria Neuman's father, would make a cameo in the sophomore season. The teaser places Marie asking him what he wants from her, to which he replies with a smirk: "You."
The first season of Gen V and Victoria Neuman's obsession with Marie have already made it clear that Marie's powers can be harnessed to become bigger than even she understands and might even make her the most powerful supe (maybe even more powerful than Homelander himself).
Stan Edgar, a shrewd man who at one point was tactically controlling Homelander, is more than aware of the possibilities that open up for him if he can get Marie to do his bidding or just get her motives to rally with his.
What Edgar's cameo means for The Boys Season 5

Assuming Edgar can get Marie to do his bidding or get her to understand or support his motives, because Marie is not one to be treated as a pawn. The next question that arises is what this means for the war that has been brewing between Homelander and the gang in The Boys.
The biggest conundrum lies in the fact that Edgar Stan has no love lost with either of the two sides.
Edgar Stan has one of the most complicated relationships with Homelander, as he is one of the only people not afraid of the supe. At one point, Stan was the CEO of Vought and wasn't beyond using underhanded tactics to control Homelander. This means he understands everything that makes Homelander tick and the exact buttons to press to control him. He will also not be too happy living in an America controlled by the man he once controlled with mere words.
On the other hand, he definitely has no loyalty towards or reason to help the gang, because first and foremost, Butcher killed his daughter, Victoria Neuman, and secondly, they even tried to back out of their deal and send him back to prison in the fourth season.
So, Edgar Stan is one of the most confounding antagonists on The Boys, and his appearance in Gen V Season 2, approaching Marie, completely shakes things up for the war that's brewing for the series finale.
We'll have to wait until September 17 to find out just how Edgar Stan's appearance shakes things up in The Boys universe.
Gen V Season 2 premieres with its first three episodes on Prime Video on September 17, followed by a weekly release setting the season finale up for October 22.
