In the Netflix drama, Wolf King, Drew realizes his powers and the truth about his life, that he is the son of the Wolf King. When Tilly, his foster mother, was attacked by a monstrous rat, he saved her with power. The community and his family think he is responsible for Tilly's situation and abandon him. He goes to Brackenholm, where he meets Whitley, Beare Duke Bergen's daughter, who had ventured to Dyrewood with her master, Hogan, to complete the final test of her scout training.

Here is how Drew met Whitley in Wolf King Season 1

In one night, Drew's life turns upside down as he experiences some physical discomfort and gets to know about his true parents and the truth of being a werewolf. This event is further followed by Tilly, his foster mother, getting attacked by the Ratlord. This is when he transforms into a complete wolf and fights with the rat. When the villagers see Tilly lying wounded on Drew's lap, they misinterpret it. Believing that Drew has attacked his mother, he is abandoned by his family and community.
Tilly tells him to find Duke Bergen in Dyrewoods while she lies severely wounded. Drew then takes refuge in the woods.
He encounters Whitley here, who is doing her scout training under Master Hogan. She initially acts defensively, while Drew acts awkwardly. They’re soon threatened by a group of Wyldermen, feral creatures of the forest. The trio, Drew, Whitley, and the wounded Hogan, work together to survive the attack.
Whitley and Drew's bond further deepens in Wolf King season 1

Whitely, after the attack, realizes Drew's power when he saves them from the Wyldermen. When Drew learns that she is coming from Brackenholme, she tells her to guide him to reach there. This is how Whitley helps him. This sets the foundation for their deeper bond.
Whitley soon becomes both protector and ally as Drew embarks on his journey to reclaim his identity and heritage. Whitley helps Drew despite knowing he is a stranger and is being hunted by the powerful. She brings him and her injured mentor, Hogan, to Brackenholme, a stronghold ruled by Duke Bergan. Drew goes there with the hope that Duke will help him honour his mother's dying wish.
At Brackenholme, Drew and Whitley face suspicion from the soldiers and townsfolk. However, it is Whitley who takes Drew's side and shows some loyalty. The ratlord men are closing in, and this is when Drew unlocks some more of his powers and defeats them, while Whitley becomes one of his trusted companions.
