How High Potential's Morgan Gillory is similar to Suits' Mike Ross, explored

Though Suits ended back in 2019, the fandom for one particular character remains unparalleled. A lot of fans even argue that Suits would not have been the show it is now if this character hadn’t been there and of course they are talking about Patrick J. Adams’ Mike Ross.

Mike remains arguably the most iconic character of Suits and given how poorly the spin-off Suits LA performed, it only highlights the kind of impact Mike’s character had. Despite being the brainchild of the same creator, Aaron Korsh, Suits LA clearly lacked the spark that Mike Ross brought to the original and fans were naturally not impressed.

However, now that Suits LA has been cancelled and there is no more fresh Mike Ross content available for the fans, ABC’s High Potential might be a great option to see a version of Mike Ross on screen.

The protagonist of High Potential, Morgan Gillory, played by Kaitlin Olson, is similar to the spectacular Mike Ross in many ways and fans who have been disappointed with Suits LA’s Ted Black are likely to be impressed with Morgan.

High Potential’s Morgan Gillory is a lot like Suits’ Mike Ross

Mike Ross had struck a chord with the audience from the moment he was introduced in Suits. His charm worked like magic and the fact that despite not having a formal education he was so good at the job impressed the viewers even more.

While it is true that there will probably never be another Mike Ross, High Potential’s Morgan comes close. Just like Mike, she operates on her own unique style, which often includes following methods that are unorthodox. She does not hide her qualifications like Mike does in Suits, but she is in no way formally qualified to be a part of LAPD.

However, she has a great memory like Mike and her observation power and intelligence are both sharp, which makes her a valuable asset to the team. Just like Mike Ross did in Suits, Morgan in High Potential, makes an immediate impact. She also has to constantly prove her worth to the people in the team as many of them are skeptical about her, due to her lack of formal education required for the post she is working in.

However, Morgan does not pay much heed to what people are saying like Mike did not in Suits. She knows what she is doing and it is often her outside-the-box methods and observation powers that solve the cases. Since she does not go by the rules, she comes up with fresh perspectives that help the team to crack the crimes.

Since the cancellation of Suits LA, fans who have been basking in the memory of Mike Ross and thinking how his absence was one major downside of the show can consider giving High Potential a chance because Morgan Gillory is not the one to disappoint.
