How did Ka’iana manage to get into Kamehameha’s council in Chief of War? Details explored

The fifth episode of Chief of War took a turn for Ka’iana. At the end of the fifth episode, we see that Ka’iana, in order to join Kamehameha’s council, undergoes a test. He will be able to become a part of Kamehameha’s council only if he is able to beat Kamehameha in the game of holua.

However, Ka’iana is not going to go down without a fight. The test begins, and the result is truly surprising. Kamehameha has been a champion in the game of holua. However, Ka’iana is able to beat him in the end. This leads him to finally get acceptance in the Kamehameha council.

How did Ka’iana manage to get into Kamehameha’s council in Chief of War?

Ka’iana’s journey to get into Kamehameha’s council has been anything but easy. The holua game, in which he had to participate and win to join the council, was not just a simple one. The path that was set for the competition was on top of a hill. He had to sled down the volcanic path, which was filled with rubble and debris, making it a dangerous one.

One mistake would lead him to death. On the other hand, he also had the pressure to beat Kamehameha. Now, Kamehameha has never been beaten in this game. Hence, when Ka’iana was told that Kamehameha never lost, the pressure to beat him in the game got even stronger.

Once the race started, Kamehameha quickly gained traction. On seeing this, Ka’iana understood he would have to take a drastic step to win. He decides to keep his head down while sliding. This gave him a better chance at winning. However, keeping his head down also meant that he would not be able to see the path ahead.

This increased the danger potentially. In the end, Ka’iana beat Kamehameha and emerged victorious. Even Kamehameha was surprised to see Ka’iana’s tactics to win.

Why was Ka’iana not accepted right away in Chief of War?

In the fifth episode of Chief of War, one question that arises is why Ka’iana had to go through the task and was not accepted right away. Well, this is because of his past actions. It cannot be denied that Ka’iana worked for Kahekili. He then abandoned him, which further complicated things and questioned his loyalty.

Among the councilmen of Kamehameha, in Chief of War, Moku was the most concerned one about Ka’iana’s loyalty and actions. Moku understood that Ka’iana’s actions could jeopardize the safety of the islands. Owing to these reasons, Ka’iana was not accepted right away and had to show his competence through the test.

Hence, despite the advantage he brought with him, his actions also led to distrust. In the end, Kamehameha’s pragmatism led to his acceptance in the council. This path of earning their trust was necessary for him. It not only proved his ability but also proved his dedication.

He agreed to participate in such a dangerous test without any hesitation. His willingness to take risks for a place in the inner circle of the council proved fruitful for him. The sixth episode of the series is set to release on August 29, 2025.
