Guardian: The Lonely and Great God or famously known as Goblin is a timeless K-drama among many viewers. Even after the emergence of modern K-dramas on Netflix, this fantasy drama has withstood time and is now considered an unforgettable masterpiece.

Ask any K-drama lover and they will say that the show is a must-watch. The storylines of mythology, fantasy and romance are so intricately and beautifully woven into the visuals that it has surpassed all records and is now considered a classic.

In addition to the endearing and heartbreaking tale of a goblin cursed with eternal life, the show also redefined bromance. The unlikely duo of goblin/Kim-shin (Gong Yoo) and grim reaper (Lee Wook) has earned a special place in every fan's heart.

From their constant bickering to their sweet care for one another, the K-drama gave us major bromance goals.

Goblin and the grim reaper managed to steal the spotlight with their bromance in the fantasy k-drama, even with two adorable couples. While their romances with Eun-tak and Sunny were equally swoonworthy, no K-drama fan can forget their iconic bromance.

Who thought a lonely God cursed with eternal life and an amnesiac grim reaper with a secretive sin would form such an unlikely friendship, but they did and in the best possible way. While the eternal beings became unlikely roommates because of Kim Shin's nephew Yoo Deok Hwa, their friendship transcended all realms of history and redemption.

Kim Shin's disapproval of reaper's 'ugly' hat was a constant gag in the show, eventually becoming their hilarious greeting style. The constantly bickering roommates would often indulge in telekinetic battles and flying cutlery competitions, which were hilarious to witness.

While K-dramas have seen many iconic bromances, this Supernatural duo stands apart. Their fights and constant mockery of each other stood in total contrast with their godly titles.

The constant giggles that goblin and the grim reaper brought on-screen were just to balance out the darker themes of the series. No K-drama fan can forget the iconic scene where Kim-Shin learns that the grim reaper killed and cursed him with eternal life in their previous birth.

The slow revelation that the Grim Reaper is none other than Wang-yeo was hard on both, and it looked like it was the end of their friendship. However, this is where the K-drama marveled, and the friendship between the goblin and the Grim Reaper became iconic.

While Kim-shin was aggravated by the realization, especially because of its effect on his sister, he knew that the Grim Reaper had repented for his sins enough. Not only was he denied a passage to the afterlife in his previous birth, but he became a Grim Reaper in the current one.

They managed to rise above their shared complicated history, which had tormented them for years and finally found the best closure possible at the end of the drama. The grim reaper, who once teased the goblin about his eternal life, was the happiest to see him alive after years of their reunion.

Their teary-eyed reunion was filled with their usual banter and Kim-shin mocking his 'ugly' hat, a full circle moment for the friends.

Kim Shin-shin and Grim Reaper remain an iconic bromance in the K-drama world and the chemistry Gong Yoo and Lee Dong-wook portrayed on screen is very hard to mimic. Their duo went from chaotic frenemies turned roommates to actual enemies turned found family.

Guardian: The Lonely and Great God gave the K-drama world a bromance that transcended time and sin and proved that redemption is possible if done right.
