Star Wars: Visions Season 3 is the upcoming newest installment in the anthology animated series. While the show is based on the characters created by George Lucas, it is not bound by the Star Wars canon.
The sci-fi, action, and adventure show premiered on Disney+ in 2021 and received critical and commercial success for its creative storylines, especially given the fact that it does not limit itself to the canon.
Star Wars: Visions recently released the trailer for Season 3, and the show will continue to enthrall viewers with its collection of animated short films that have the core identity of Star Wars, but dare to explore further. The show will release on Disney+ on October 29, 2025.
Therefore, Star Wars: Visions Season 3 returns with nine new episodes from nine animation studios that will feature stellar visuals and even more exciting storylines. Interestingly, the latest season will no longer be an anthology as the show is set to continue the older storylines, as seen in the trailer.

Star Wars: Visions Season 3 trailer explores Jedi and Sith sequel stories

Star Wars: Visions Season 3 trailer features Lah Kara from The Ninth Jedi, Jedi-turned-Sith the Ronin from The Duel, and Jedi survivor F from The Village Bride in Season 1.
Therefore, the trailer makes it clear that this time, the show will revolve around the previous stories, as covered in the earlier series, and will no longer just be an anthology with new stories and characters in each episode. In the newest season, there will be stories that focus on returning characters like Ronin, Lah Kara, and F.
As the title mentions, Star Wars: Visions Season 3 will expand on the plots of Jedi and Sith. In addition to the sequel to the stories of Season 1, it will also explore the rebuilding of the Jedi Order. According to ScreenRant, the Star Wars sequel trilogy wasn't received well at all. In Star Wars: The Last Jedi, after the destruction of his temple, Luke was seen leaving for exile, and was completely absent in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Henceforth, the fans were left disappointed and never got to see how Luke rebuilt the Jedi Order. However, Season 3 of Visions will finally change this! After the episode titled The Ninth Jedi in Season 1, Season 3 of Visions is set to release the follow-up, The Ninth Jedi: Child of Hope. This will be followed by another animated series titled Star Wars: Visions Presents: The Ninth Jedi. Therefore, the episode and the animated series will subsequently follow Luke's attempt to restore the Jedi order and the Sith's resistance to the return.
Screen Rant also reports that even though the episode will not focus on Luke's Jedi Temple, this is the closest that the Star Wars franchise has come to exploring the hitherto unanswered question of the return of the Jedi Order.
Further, the Season 1 episode, The Duel, is also getting a follow-up with The Duel: Playback in Season 3, and as the first installment of the episode focused on the fight between Jedi and Sith in feudal Japan, therefore, the follow-up version will also focus on Ronin coming back.
According to Star Wars Celebration 2025, director Takanobu Mizuno, as reported by CBR, the follow-up will see Ronin fighting Sith but also meeting Anee-San, who is a Jedi Grandmaster and with whom Ronin shares a past.
Therefore, Star Wars: Visions Season 3 hopes to expand its pre-existing storylines and spotlight some of its most important characters, including the Jedi and the Sith.
However, the series is set to maintain some of its original concept of anthology episodes, and ScreenRant confirms that six episodes from the latest show will have new stories like the older seasons.
